Ida Widawati's Tembang Sunda, September 25, 2001

This is a truly beautiful collection of Sundanese chamber music. The music is played with an absolute minimum of instruments. The heart of the music is shared by an end-blown bamboo flute called a Suling and a plucked string instrument called a kacapi. This CD features the sweet delicate voice of Ida Widawati who casts spells with her haunting melodies. This is a live recording of extremely beautiful music. The flute could surely have been miked a little better but what we are left with is in no way disappointing. I would reccomend this album to anyone. It's a lot of music for those days when you can afford the time to just sit and listen. Carve out some space for this CD in your collection.
