I am not sure if it over heated or shoddy construction.

I purchased the UG802 to connect to my entertainment system. I wanted to be able to use Google Apps and stream music and video. A few notes about this product:

- It comes with Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) not Ice Cream Sandwich (4.04). A bonus that they should advertise.
- You need to use the power supply provided. Simply plugging it into a USB port (I have one in the back of my receiver) doesn't provide enough power and will result in the device constantly rebooting and becoming unstable.
- There are a lot of custom ROMs built for this already. I opted for one called Finless. It seems more stable with respect to the Google Play store.
- It doesn't have Bluetooth and doesn't support a Bluetooth dongle. I suspect this will be addressed in one of the custom ROMS.
- The audio and video streaming is very good. I was impressed with the way it handled Netflix streaming. I was even more impressed by the way it ran the often buggy Sirius/XM app.
- The wireless range is not good due to a design flaw with the antenna. Luckily for me the device is about 2 feet away from my router.

Right now this is pretty much a toy to tinker around with. The price is cheap enough to do this. But I suspect that when the custom ROMs become more sophisticated, this will become an integral part of my home theater.

***UPDATE*** Be very careful when moving this device around. I had to move my stereo receiver the other day (the UG802 is connected to one of its HDMI inputs) and the HDMI cable got bent which broke it apart. Trying to fix this, I accidentally twisted the USB power cable and it literally ripped the USB socket out of the device. So it has been rendered useless. Not a flaw of the device just me not realizing I had to be so careful. You have been warned.

I bought one of these to use with my 50" plasma TV. It worked right away, boot time is very fast. Basically it turned the TV into an Android computer. Now I browse the internet, watch utube videos, log in to my facebook account and everything else at my TV. Apps will work at it. You can use it as a movie player if you connect an external storage unit to it. Anything that works at an android platform will work there, and it is fast! Things you need are: internet connection, USB mouse+keyboard combo, a USB port multiplier will be good and external storage unit(s).

I got this nifty little mini PC and I simply love it. First i must clarify to all the people who are thinking about adopting this new android form factor and reading the negative reviews, be aware that this device is not for the weak hearted. $43 does not break the bank but everyone wants to buy a product that actually works. This one works right out of the box but works way better when tweaked with proper tools.

That being said, I got this device to tinker with a cheap mini PC (as advertised) new Android form factor. The device worked perfectly well right out of the box with the exception that the WiFi would work only if the device is used in the same room as my router. Installed Finless ROM 1.4 and WiFi worked in every room. Tried to upgrade to Finless ROM 1.6 for jelly bean support and bricked the device. No problems, opened the device with a small screw driver, reset the device and installed Finless ROM 1.7

Have had no issues since the upgrade. Full 1080p HD support, Google play store, Netflix, HBO GO,(Hulu did not work)most all games & root access. GREAT device and would probably buy another one for a TV in the guest room. Will make it an electronic/science project for my son to modify/upgrade it before I put it to use. A very cheap solution to make any HDMI TV a Smart TV.

Most negative reviews are pointing towards the WiFi issue which truly exists if you don't upgrade. So if you are willing to risk $43 and enjoy pure android experience after making it a science project, buy it and make it work. For the price it won't break the bank and it WILL work. You just can't kill this thing unless you pour water on it.

I finally got to try out a nice Android on a stick, the UG802. Its a Rockchip 3066 dual core equipped stick, with a strong quad core GPU that makes short work of almost all videos and music I played back.

The interface is simple, but well done, with large tiles/icons that allowed for easy identification. I was afraid that the tiles would be too small, but they were just right. I hooked this up to my bedroom TV, a 26" LED LCD TV. It came with a nice HDMI extension cord that allowed for a better placement for ease of access. It has a full sized usb port and a micro usb port for the charging cable. The full sized port allowed me to hook up a wireless keyboard/mouse combo effortlessly.

Unlike what I've read about the older A10 chipset based sticks, this one dosen't seem to get too hot, so I'm not too worried about leaving it plugged in all the time. So far none of the sticks have an on/off switch, leaving you no option but to unplug it to shut it off. At least I don't have to worry about that with the UG802 thanks to its cool running.

So far, I haven't had a single disconnect from my router, which is in the next room over, around 6 feet away with a wall in the way. This is something I've been reading about, the poor wifi connectivity, and am thankful I'm not experiencing that. It should also be noted that Netflix and Crackle streamed movies very well, with the UI set to 1080p at 60hz. No stuttering or slowdown at all. Speaking of UI, instead of the advertised ICS 4.0.4, this unit had 4.1.1 Jellybean, a nice surprise. It runs fine, with few glitches at all so far.

I love that I can now go online and use any browser I choose right from the comfort of my bed/couch, its much easier than having a hot laptop sitting on my lap in bed.
