Children love these dolls. Teens also love this doll and other uglydolls like it. As far as educational value goes, it encourages children to use their imaginations for dramatic play, has great texture for those with sensory needs and it's great to snuggle with for sleeping.

I purchased the Ice Bat UglyDoll for a friend of mine who just had a new child join their family. I did a little bit of research on the various plush toys out there, and it sees that there's always a concern of durability and small parts. Many plushes have hard eyes, or loose fur/hair, or even fire hazards. The UglyDoll line seemed to have none of these, so I clicked the Buy Now button.

I have been informed by my friend that the Ice Bat may not make it to their new child as their older (4yr old) has claimed it as her own (and loves it). Apparently she took it to show-n-tell at school the week she got it in the mail.

So there you go - kids seem attracted to the out of the ordinary subject matter, and really - it crosses that "It's so ugly, it's cute" line in the sand.

I gave Amazon two chances to get this right. The image you see under this listing is in fact a photo of the 11" Ice Bat, NOT the 2-foot doll. You will get a 2-foot doll, but it will not look like the image on the website. The one you will get will be a dull (and honestly, dingy-looking) blue. The bat has 5 teeth rather than 4 and has toes, unlike the one pictured here. These are obviously the same character but two different products. This seems to be the original/classic Ice Bat from 2002 whereas the one pictured (the better version in my opinion) is newer and looks better. I'm not sure if these are being passed off as "new"(they really do look used) or if that is just how it was designed. Either way, I've sent back two of these and I'm buying from somewhere else. I can say that Amazon is extremely prompt with shipping, returns, etc. but apparently not with product accuracy. So buyer beware...

I love this doll. It's big and a great pillow and stuffed animal. It's greater than what I expected!
