5.0 out of 5 stars this reissue has zero hip-hop content, October 18, 2003
By brian jones (port stanley, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
shelton-rec's review of"Ducktales"is totally off the mark. The re-
view obviously refers to the rap-hip-hop group of the same name.
"Ducktales" is a reissue of some 45's and unreleased material plus some tracks from their sole lp-"Somewhere Outside".These are
the Ugly Ducklings of GARAGE band fame, from 1965-1968,out of Tor-
onto,Canada.Highly sought after by fans of garage-beat-punk from
around the world. The reason for their popularity is primarily be-cause of their solid garage-punk material and raw delivery.Lots of influences are evident, but mainly early Stones,Yardbirds and
Kinks plus a definite Pretty Things appreciation.Buy either of
these cds,"Somewhere Outside"or "Ducktales" NOW!You won't be dis-
appoimted. These boys rock! And the folks at Unidisc did a great re
mastering job on both cds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasic classic Canadian rock!!!, July 18, 2006
By Eric Charles (Ottawa, ON, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This album is worth getting for the Ducks' 1967 Canadian top 10 hit "Gaslight" alone, yet you also get an excellent collection of 60's garage proto-punk, including a fantastic cover of "My little red book". Very, very enjoyable!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "THE SPIRIT OF GARAGE ROCK", January 4, 2008
By Daniel Sneddon (ONTARIO,CANADA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
THE CANADIAN UGLY DUCKLINGS WERE ONE OF THE FIRST NOTABLE "GARAGE" ROCK BANDS TO COME ONTO THE TORONTO SCENE."NOTHIN'" HIT THE CHARTS AND THEY WERE COMPARED TO THE STONES AND PRETTY THINGS BUT THE "DUCKS" HAD THEIR OWN SOUND AND THIS COMPILATION STANDS UP WITH "JUST IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING","TRAIN" AND MORE.BY THE TIME "GASLIGHT" WAS RELEASED THE BAND HAD GONE THEIR SEPARATE WAYS AND LEAD SINGER DAVE BINGHAM WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE RECORDING OF THIS TRACK.THIS C D IS A MUST FOR YOUR COLLECTION WITH GARAGE BAND MEMORIES.....
