Directors comments: Since making its debut on the market in November of 2000, Ukrainian Power has delighted and educated a variety of children across the United States and abroad. The Ukrainian community is embracing this entertaining one-of-a-kind video series and is using it to help supplement Ukrainian learning at home. Non-Ukrainians are responding to the videos with enthusiasm as well. Non-Ukrainian parents who have adopted children from Ukraine say Ukrainian Power will help keep their child tied to his or her heritage. Ukrainian Power is also a big hit with American teachers who say they welcome the opportunity to expose their students to different languages and cultures.
Product Description
Because children love to learn, sing and play, they will be delighted to spend time in Alphabet Village where letters grow on trees and the river flows of alphabet soup. Led by Boomchyk Borovyk, our loveable purple host, they will meet Natalka who is eager to learn the Ukrainian alphabet, Yurko who wants to capture the colorful village on canvas and Maksym who dreams of being a soccer star. Pani Vera, their creative teacher, finds many ways to help them learn. Milya, a lovely English-speaking puppet, pops in throughout the video to provide encouragement and explanation of the on-screen activities. A live-action Ukrainian dance segment shows children the beauty of Ukrainian culture. Closed captioning is available in English so parents and friends who do not speak Ukrainian can follow along. The videos runs approximately 25 minutes.
