4.0 out of 5 stars A great RPG bundle.
This set is a great introduction to the lands of Ultima and role-playing games in general. Ultima Online is a deep, rich, open-ended experience that allows you to create a vast variety of characters, and interact with others from all corners of the globe. Ultima IX is a beautiful, huge game packed with spells, quests, monsters, and a deeply woven plot. However, to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Warning - 3DFX required for Ultima IX
While Ultima Online may work ok for most video cards, anyone with a TNT, Radeon, or Geforce is not going to be able to play Ultima IX. Running a 1 gig AMD Thunderbird with 256MB RAM I can't get decent frame rates even on the lowest 640x480x16 settings. (Note: The box says it'll run on a P266). When I had my old 3DFX Voodoo 2 it ran fine. Be sure to take this into...

However, to play UO you will need to shell out $10 a month, and U9 requires a cutting-edge system to run. Other than this, I heartily recommend these games.

4.0 out of 5 stars has it's problems but what game doesn't???, May 22, 2001

O.K. I just want to get this out in the open, Ultima Online does NOT have great graphics(on a scale from 1 to ten I would give it a 5). Ultima Online, if you don't know what you are doing when you start out is a HORRIBLE game. If you know what you are doing then it is extremly fun(to know what you are doing I would reccomend visiting "uo.stratics.com"). Ultima Online is great on so many levels. You are, in the game living your life, day by day. Just like in real life you have to make money. To do that you need a skill that will make you some cash. This game is also NOT a regular game where you mess with A.I. the other people are real players playing the game just like you in their own homes. If you are thinking that this would be annoying, morons running around saying "I'm a pony. I'm a pony" it is not because you can get jailed for that. Also you may have gotten the notion from some other reviews that there is a problem with lag. Well, I've been playing for 4 1/2 years and only two times have I had a problem with lag where I froze because of lag and a monster killed me. Just pick a server that is intended to be used by people in your general . For example if you live in Southern California then pick Baja if you live in Northern California then pick Pacific, Pick Chesaepeake if you well you get my point so just pick the right server, read uo.stratics.com and find someone in the game to be your friend and this game is soooooooooo much fun

5.0 out of 5 stars Could lead to divorce...., November 27, 2001

Ok, granted, this not the best graphical game in the world. However, it's not about the graphics. For those that are looking for that "blow'em up" "shoot'em up" "Kill'em all and let God sort them out" type of game, look somewhere else.
Ultima is a game of patience, endurance, and above all else, creativity.
If you love games where you can choose to be the bad guy or good guy, to choose between being a warrior or a magician, basically where you can choose to be anything you want to be, this is the game to go with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teh best online game there is., August 2, 2001
This review is from: Ultima Online: Renaissance / Ultima 9: Ascension Bundle (CD-ROM)
Number 1. Im saying this to crw1998. Ive played this game for a year and a half. And u cant get jailed for saying "Im a pony." You can get BANNED or suspended for harrassing people after they tell you to stop. Anyways. This is one of the best online games. They came out with a new thing called Ultima Online Third Dawn. This will 3d enhance some of the graphics. You can be a variety of different professions. Even a theif! You can cast magic, or fight with sword and shield. Fight mongbats...dragons....Earth Elementals...etc! I recommend getting this game over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!!!, July 24, 2001
This review is from: Ultima Online: Renaissance / Ultima 9: Ascension Bundle (CD-ROM)
I have been playing Ultima Online:Renaissance for about 5 months on the Baja Shard, it has been the most incredible role playing experience yet. As I progress my characters and develop my place in this "world" I have found many new friendships on this internet only platform. The graphics and playablity of this game are excellent and enjoyable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really I must say........, February 23, 2001

well, first I have played for a long while, the game is ok....Tram is the place to make the money , Fel is where ya go if you want to have fun. There is a big split between Tram an Fel ( those are two sides of the "world" ) There is way to much duping, hording an account hacking with this game, So be VERY carefull! This game is alot of fun, but it does lag a bit when it comes to really playing. I have seen alot of people leave, very poor customer service, over pricing, Ebay, an poor updates & coding problems. Depending on what "shard" you play on, the people will be good or bad.......When I say that I mean that I have seen entire shards made up of the worst gamers I have ever seen an other shards made up of the best people I have ever come across while playing. There is no RPing in this game, really very few people do it......Check the game out.....if you well want to spend 10 bucks a month on nothing more than a D&D game where everyone is a GM an no one is a player......
