No backache with this sling!,
This review is from: Ultimate 5-in-1 Baby Wrap Carrier (Toy)
By the time my baby was born, I had three sling-type carriers for her: a Snugli front carrier, a New Native sling (the one Cindy Crawford raved about) and this one. When my baby was about 2-3 weeks old, I tried her in the New Native, but she hated it. She kept slipping so far down in the pouch that the fabric fell over her face, and she just didn't like being in a laying-down position at all. Next, I tried the Snugli. My baby liked being upright, but the straps of the Snugli cut into my shoulders, and every time my baby fell asleep, her head fell over her shoulder at a 90-degree angle. I finally tried the UBW, and fell in LOVE!First let me say I waited so long to try the wrap because I was intimidated. I watched the video many times and practiced using the wrap with stuffed animals and dolls, but I didn't feel secure enough to try carrying an actual baby in it. Finally, I met another woman who had an UBW and, after talking with her, I got up the courage to try putting my daughter in it. Well, it worked like a dream. I used the tummy-to-tummy carry (the first carry shown on the video) and it was perfect. My daughter could sit upright facing me (her favorite position) but the wrap provided enough head support that even when she fell sound asleep her head didn't tilt over at all. (I just made sure to pull the wrap up high over her shoulders and the back of her neck.) Because the wrap is made of soft t-shirt material, it didn't dig into my shoulders at all. In fact, you can adjust the width of the material across the shoulders to make it as wide or as narrow as is comfortable for you. Plus, you wind up carrying your baby much closer to your body in an UBW than in a Snugli-type front carrier, so I found that my back didn't start aching the way it did when using the Snugli. Finally, the UBW is VERY portable - it even comes with a little drawstring bag with shoulder straps to carry it in. I found that the secret to successfully using the UBW was to tie it tightly enough but not *too* tightly. Figuring out the wrapping method itself wasn't too hard - after a few practice sessions I could do it easily, and the video was very helpful for that - but getting the right tension was a bit tricky. The fabric is quite stretchy, so if I left the tension too loose I would be afraid that my baby would fall out. As a result, at first I found I tied the wrap too tightly, and I felt my baby was uncomfortable (being squeezed too tightly against me or in the leg area). With a little practice, though, I got the right tension for my baby and me, and now I couldn't be happier with the UBW. To make it easier to use several times in one day, I often tie it on once and keep it on even if my baby is out - that way I'm all set to pop her back in at the first sign of her getting fussy. Bottom line: while the UBW isn't as simple to use at first as many of the other carriers on the market, I think once you get the hang of it it outperforms any other I've found.

I personally was not a fan of baby carriers, as I hated the way they looked. I'd see those parents shopping with the Baby Bjorn and for every 10 parents I saw at least 8 of them had either a strap undone...for comfort or were holding their backs or lastly had the carrier on but the baby in their arms.I wanted to by the Baby Sling but a friend told me not to waste my money so after looking at The Ultimate Baby Wrap for the last two months of my pregnancy, I finally ordered it. Now I must admit when it arrived and I took it out of the box, my eyebrows must have become a permanent frown, as I had no idea what to do with this cumbersome length of fabric, however after watching the dvd on my computer, and about two tries I had it down pact. Let me also say that I was worried about how secure my child really would be as she was 9lbs 4oz and 32 inches long at birth and I just didn't think this thing would hold her. Imagine my surprise when not only did it hold her but I was able to sit at the computer and type, download photos for the family and friends and when it came time, with a a little adjustment at the shoulders I was able to nurse her as well. My inital test drive of the Wrap was an outing was to a mall, where we were there for nearly 8 hours. The first time my mom had to help me as she didn't want the fabric to drag the ground but now I simply lay the ends in the car as I put it on and it only takes me a couple of minutes. I was able to nurse my daughter without having to run back to the car, or look for a bathroom, or someplace to sit. I didn't have to dress her in a bunch of layers only to remove them as we walk, she was able to sleep without her head lolling about and when it came time to leave, all I had to do was pull the extra fabric around her to shield her from the drop in temperature. Pros: Baby feels swaddled, is held close to mom. No back pain due to narrow straps or unevenly distributed weight. Cons: I couldn't find the nice colors that were demo'd on the dvd. Please try this product, it doesn't take a lot of time to learn to use it. I've received great compliments every time I've been out and even had a new mother try mines out and she was amazed at how much more supportive it felt then her current carrier.

I've tried all the other carriers, my daughter HATED them. They're stiff and uncomfortable for her and hard to put on and uncomfortable for me. (I'm a bigger girl) This carrier has been a godsend. It's sooo versatile, with five different carrying postitions, it is worth the money so much moreso than any of the other carriers out there. It's COMFORTABLE, it DOESN'T hurt my back and most of all, my daughter LOVES it! I wouldn't spend my money on any other carrier. If you want a carrier that will last a long time (till your child is THREE), I would put my money on THIS carrier!!

I bought this carrier the first time in Navy and I use it everyday so I decided to get myself a second color. This is hands down the best baby carrier on the market. Everywhere I go people stop me to find out where they can get one for themselves. The baby wrap is comfortable for all day use and I find that I can put my 8 week old daughter in it and she and I are comfortable for hours at a time. It's a must have for any mom but for a mom of 2 it has become a necessity for me.Ok- so now I've been using this for awhile and I have to say, that if they allowed me to give a million star rating, I would! This carrier is a life saver! My daughter is now 5 months old and just smiles when she see's me putting it on! She loves this and so do I! I can never say enough about this carrier!!!

LOVE IT love it love it,
This review is from: Ultimate 5-in-1 Baby Wrap Carrier (Toy)
My baby is 2.5 months now and since we got the sling I wear it almost everyday. The little one gets all snug and cozy and can breastfeed/sleep while mom gets a bit of housework, emailing, and/or shopping taken care of. I've learned to try on pants with this thing on as I'm not in my regular clothes yet... Anyway, my baby likes "bouncy walking" and this is perfect, I can put one hand under her rear and bounce her while sitting or standing. Daddy loves it too. He "wore" her through a presentation I gave at an academic conference and she slept through the whole thing! Some folks don't even notice there's a baby there, which is nice if you want to avoid getting stranger's germs all over a brand new baby. I agree with the reviewer who mentioned it gets loose after several hours (especially if you take baby in and out of it a lot), but it's managable. Also, it does take a couple "test runs" to master putting it on. One more downside -- you're not supposed to tumble dry it, we need to wash it at least twice a week b/c mommy eats while wearing it and she is sloppy. ;) Baby spits up sometimes too.

Great Sling.,

This sling/wrap is very comfortable and holds the baby quite well (once you've tried it on a few times and worked out how tight to tie it). I only rated 4 stars because it is difficult to put on in, say, a parking lot or restaurant without half of it getting on the floor.. I usually put it on before going anywhere and wear it while I drive and it's faster to get baby out anyway.. The first time I breastfed while having lunch myself (with both hands!!) I was sold on its value.

I'll get right to the point: I am 5' and weigh 145 pounds -- not built at all like the models displaying baby carriers. Because of my short and stout size, it has been very difficult to find a carrier that fits my shape... until the Ultimate Baby Wrap! It wraps around my body, and is the most comfortable carrier I have ever worn! Highly recommended for mommys of all shapes and sizes!

I bought this when my baby was just a couple weeks old and overall, I was fairly pleased with it. I used it everyday for the first 2 1/2 months and it was a lifesaver - as soon as I would put her in it she would fall asleep and I could eat, do dishes, etc. The fabric is very soft and comfortable and makes the baby easy to wear. I had to watch the DVD to figure out how to wear the thing, but it took me only a few seconds to put it on after that. I would have given the product 4 stars if not for a couple of concerns. First, after wearing the baby for 30 minutes or so the wrap starts to stretch and the baby starts to droop. You either have to readjust the fabric and tighten the rings or let the baby slide. Readjusting is almost impossible to do without waking the baby and it's much easier to just take the baby out and start over - which isn't really what you want to do. Letting the baby droop isn't an acceptable option either. My other problem with it was that it is not the sort of thing you can take with you to put on in a store. Because there is so much fabric, it would be near impossible to put it on without dragging the ends on the ground. If you wanted to wear it out to the mall or the grocery store I would suggest putting it on before you left the house. It's a perfectly fine sling and it served its purpose when my baby was little. If I have another one, I'll probably buy a different sling.

This wrap is great. I have a four week old and we love this. I can do everything and still feel like my baby is secure. I live in Italy, and a bustling open-air market is no place for a bulky stroller. I was able to do my shoping, sit in a cafe and have a gelato with my sister, nurse, and later walk through a medival town built on a hill. Her weight was natural and didn't cause a backache. She did get a little wiggly a few times, but was always ready to be tucked back inside after a good stretch. I use it around the house when I want her to be near me but still need to finish a few chores up. The wonderful thing is that it comes with a short video that shows all of the different ways it can be worn and how to wrap the baby safely in each position. I only wish that it came in more colors!

I've been really aprehensive about buying a sling... although after reading all of the reviews that I could stand, checking out so many different types, and comparing prices, I chose this one. Thank goodness! It's wonderful. I'm not a tiny little person and the carrier that I received was too tight, and killed my back. I have a pre-existing back problem anyway, so that one had to go. The Ultimate Baby Wrap is unbelieveably comfortable. It feels great even when she isn't in it! The price was well worth it, and there's a very good DVD enclosed that shows in detail how to use it and the five different ways that you can carry your baby. (My only suggestion is that if you use the one to nurse... make sure you have on the right type of nursing shirt...) I can't wait to see all of my mom friends try it out... My husband even tried it on! ...and that was after he snickered while watching me put it on. Yes it does look like you are trying to mummify yourself. But it only took me one try and now it's no problem. Please try this, your back will thank you!
