1.0 out of 5 stars The worst ACT prep book ever, December 18, 2004
By
Jonathan Coley (Germantown, TN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultimate ACT Tool Kit w CD-ROM (Peterson's Ultimate ACT Tool Kit) (Paperback)
I have never seen a worse ACT prep book in my life. Take the included CD, for instance; the practice tests are absolutely horrible. One question on the English test says, "I and him went to the store"; the correct choice would obviously be "He and I," yet the answer it gives is "I and He." Terrible, terrible English. On other questions they don't even GIVE the answer (it says, Correct answer: none given). I don't think they could have botched this any worse. Stay far, far away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Peterson's Ultimate ACT Assessment is a waste of time., May 23, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ultimate ACT Tool Kit w CD-ROM (Peterson's Ultimate ACT Tool Kit) (Paperback)
What a waste of time and money. There are numerous mistakes with the book. This book was full of wrong answers and poor editing in critical reading and math. I have had to ask several teachers to check over my work to make sure I got the correct answers.
Next, I was given a practice online essay which would be instantly scored by a professional. I was given only 25 minutes to write a detailed essay on rewarding career choices. I do not have the life experience to write a successful essay on this topic without research. I suggest you search around for other ACT prep books, such as The Real ACT Prep Guide: The Only Official Prep Guide From The Makers Of The ACT (Real Act Prep Guide).

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy Cracking the Code by Princeton Review Instead!, October 21, 2004
This review is from: Ultimate ACT Tool Kit w CD-ROM (Peterson's Ultimate ACT Tool Kit) (Paperback)
My daughter has used Princeton Reviews Cracking the Code to prepare for the ACT in the past and raised her ACT composite significantly -- we thought we'd try something different this time and picked up Peterson's -- in comparison it is difficult to follow -- doesn't give actual tips just for the ACT and the writing is not engaging. Cracking the Code is far superior -- don't waste your money here!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this ACT book!, March 25, 2006
This review is from: Ultimate ACT Tool Kit w CD-ROM (Peterson's Ultimate ACT Tool Kit) (Paperback)
I bought this book because it had a lot of practice tests, "winning strategies", and online support. This book is riddled with errors. The practice tests are horrible. You have to flip pages to get from the passage to the questions. There are countless errors in the book. For example, in the grammar, it said that this was gramatically correct "Eventually, Wang did attempt to move into personal computers, but by that time". That is blatantly wrong and there are tons more of errors like that in the book. IN all, do not buy this book and instead go for the Prinston Review or the real ACT book.
