5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST CARRIER HANDS DOWN
I have never bothered to write a review before, but in this case I feel compelled. I have 3 daughters and own almost every type of carrier that exists, including the front carrier, the sling, the backpack thing, the side hip thing, you name it. I was forever in search of the perfect, every-scenario, comfortable-yet-practical carrier. I found it in this one. My youngest is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Best for newborn age, Very cumbersome to put on BUT very comfortable.
I was really into this wrap when I saw someone wearing it. I looked so comfortable. I received it as a baby shower gift. I have worn it about 4 times. It is a real pain to put it on because it's very long and very stretchy. Although, it was easy to learn to put it on, it is not a quick process. I especially don't like that when I get out of the car to put it on, the...

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST CARRIER HANDS DOWN, December 5, 2004
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
I have never bothered to write a review before, but in this case I feel compelled. I have 3 daughters and own almost every type of carrier that exists, including the front carrier, the sling, the backpack thing, the side hip thing, you name it. I was forever in search of the perfect, every-scenario, comfortable-yet-practical carrier. I found it in this one. My youngest is 7 months old and - no kidding - has been in this wrap every single day since she was one week old. First of all, it's the most comfortable carrier you'll ever wear. The soft t-shirt type material does not create a single pressure point, the babies weight (mine is about 16 lbs)gets evenly distributed, and there is absolutely no back ache like with other carriers. It's versatile. As an infant they are cradled inside in a lying down or diagonal position, then, upright and facing in. Later, as with my baby, on the side hip position. They can also face out or ride on your back. All this with the same tie, which, I might add at this time, is not complicated once you do it 2 or 3 times. it takes about 20 seconds to get on. When baby is in it, they feel the same thing they felt in the womb - weightlessness, warmth, and the familiar pattern of your everyday movements. They are either quietly alert or asleep. On the outside, it looks like you're wearing a little cozy cocoon. You can nurse with it on. I take my baby to work and I wore her constantly as an infant while having my hands free. now she crawls around but gets in the wrap when she is tired or fussy and it's instant gratification for both of us. Not a day goes by when I'm not approached on the street by strangers asking about this wrap. I thought I had to spread the word even more. Makes a terrific baby gift. You will not regret this purchase.

I felt compelled to write because of the reviews I read before buying this wrap. I was almost turned off by the moms who said this was so difficult to put on. Well, don't let those comments deter you! I just bought it tonight and it took about 5 minutes to get on. I've had it for a couple of hours and my one month old baby has been nursing/sleeping in it the whole time. I'm a mother of 3, and like one of the other moms who wrote, I've tried every type of carrier. The others aren't bad, but this is by far the most comfortable and versatile. It's really great if you're nursing-much better than a traditional sling. It's also the only one that allows you to sit comfortably (like I'm doing now). TRUST ME, it is not hard to master. I can't imagine needing a video to figure it out. So glad I ignored the more negative comments. As far as wear and tear, I'd rather buy one of these every month than one of the $80 carriers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY choice, December 27, 2005
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
The first day I got it - I was cooking mac & cheese while nursing my infant!!! This is the best baby sling - period. Once you get the hang of it - it's a breeze to put on - but it will take a few tries to get it routine. But between the verstility - carry front, back, foward facing, inward facing, on the hop, lying down - it's amazing. It's the ohly baby sling that holds the baby tight - close to you, so it is truly hands free - youdon't have to worry about baby slipping or falling out. I have 3 herniated discs in my back, and I can wear this baby sling all day long with no pain. It's simply wonderful!

5.0 out of 5 stars No More Back Pain !!, December 11, 2005

I just had my third child, and until now have not found a baby carrier I can use. The traditional kind ('Snugli' style) were murder on my back. The higher-priced raved-about sling carriers (like the 'OvertheShoulderBabyHolder') never felt secure, hurt my shoulder, and by the time I got my daughter in it, she was just as miserable! I have wasted a lot of money on carriers that I never could use, so I was very skeptical when I purchased this one. I used this the first time because my baby wants to be held at the most inconvenient times, and it worked! She was comfortable, I was comfortable, and able to go about my business. Today I used it going out to the store - it was much easier to take her out of the carseat into the wrap and then back into the carseat than to carry the carseat around. It does not hurt my back or shoulders one bit and is incredibly secure and supportive of the baby (enough to give me the use of both arms). Also comfortable enough to keep on all day and use as needed! This is such a good product it's shocking!! I am extremely happy with it, and so is Emma :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy, comfortable Baby and Mama, May 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
This is a great product! My son loves it and we are both very comfortable in it. Putting it on takes a little longer than a regular sling or carrier, however once it is on you won't be in a rush to take it off. Other websites sell it in light grey, red, and tan which are better colors in you live in a hot climate. One nice feature is that if my son falls asleep in it ( facing-in position) I can move the straps to give him more head support and block the sun without taking him out. This is a big plus for me.

UPDATE-I wrote the above review when my son was 7 wks old. My son is 6 1/2 months old now and 16 lb and this is still working great. This is one of the only items I am still using 6 months after his birth. I wash it regularly and it is holding up well. I've found it is much more pleasant for both of us to use this rather than the stroller or baby carrier. He feels more secure and I have less stuff to tote. It is not the best choice for running lots of short errands in a row, but for outdoor outtings, the mall, and grocery shopping it is perfect. One tip make sure to avoid twisting the fabric when you put it on. The flatter and wider the straps the better the support. I also find it best to wear it with a tank top or other fitted, button/zipperless shirt.

5.0 out of 5 stars My best investment by far!!!!, April 25, 2006
By
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
Finally, a highly intellectual person(s) has invented a way of saving our poor, aching backs! The Ultimate Baby Wrap is my MIRACLE! I originally bought a different carrier, but it was quite uncomfortable for my ribs, shoulders, and back...so, I returned it. Then, I read all the wonderful reviews of the Ultimate Baby Wrap and thought I'd give it a try...I can't rave enough about it! I have no more aches and pains. My 4 month old son wants mommy to carry him 24/7, but, as much as I love to hold him, my spine was starting to give way. Now, we can have all the mommy and baby bonding time, yet still have my hands free to water the lawn, fold the laundry, and even type this letter as we speak. Also, we recently took the baby to Disneyland and I carried him in the Ultimate Baby Wrap for about six hours, and I still felt great at the end of the day with literally no pain in my spine or shoulders (just sore feet from walking all day). I highly recommend this to every parent...Just give it a try and I really think that you, too, will love this product as much as I do. It truly is a lifesaver!

PROS:
1) 5 in 1 carrier positions (sling for newborns, tummy to tummy, facing out, side/hip carrier, and even carry on back)...this is the only carrier you'll ever need to buy, and it takes less than a minute to wrap around you.

2) Lightweight t-shirt type material that comes with a carrying sack for easily storing in diaper bag.

3) Bottom-end of wrap has loop-rings to tie material through, so, when you need to take it off, there are no tight knots to undo.

4) Evenly distributes weight so NO MORE aching backs or shoulders for parents.

5) Soft and stretchy, yet supportive for baby, with no buckles for their poor little heads to rub against (seems much more ergonomically comfortable than some of the other carriers)

6) Great price!!!!

CONS:
1) Not that it's any big deal, but it would be nice to have a better variety of colors to choose from rather than navy, black, or gray. Possibly some earth tones would be pretty (olive, taupe, etc).

2) Must hang dry or else it will shrink dramatically. So, when you wash it, you have to wait a day before using it again. I had hoped that the material was pre-shrunked, so we could just conveniently throw it in the dryer after every wash.

3) Some may find that it's not very convenient time-wise to watch instructional video, but, I highly recommend that you do to get the maximum benefit out of your wrap (it's a very short video, only 5-minutes).

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST MONEY SPENT, February 22, 2005
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
This is the best money I have ever spent! I have a very high-maintenance baby who likes to be held, a LOT. I have spent lots of money trying different things and I am THRILLED with this wrap. It took a few tries to get it feeling secure and tight, but after three or four tries, this one is my FAVORITE. It beats out the more expensive carriers by FAR! It is the most comfortable for my back (my baby is about 20 pounds now) and does not pull at my neck muscles like the brand name carriers. I did watch the included video to really get the right way to put it on, i found the tighter I wrap it around me, the more snug the baby is and that feels good. I would highly recommend this to anyone! I have never taken the time to write a review before, but having searched and searched for six months for a comfortable carrier, this was worth reviewing! I could go on and on about this carrier!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars the only carrier my baby will use, June 7, 2006
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
I read a lot of reviews and looked at a lot of carriers before buying this one. We bought the UBW a week or two after our little one was born. We were given a Snugli and had bought a sling-type carrier, but DD would not even let me put her in the Snugli without screaming and the sling had lots and lots of cushy fabric and was just too hot.

Although daunting at first, this wrap is so easy to get on (DVD really helps) and I haven't seen any other reviewers mention that once it's on, it's "poppable"--baby can be taken in and out multiple times (may need to tighten at the rings tho) without removing the wrap. You can put your baby into the wrap in any of the 5 positions after only having put the wrap on once. That is a big plus I think!

I have had trouble with the sleeping/nursing position--just can't seem to get everything adjusted well. It is either too loose or too tight, and DD seems to not like having the fabric over the back of her head holding her tightly to my breast.

Also, it does tend to get a little warm at times. Here in Los Angeles and both DD and I being quite "warm-blooded" there are times where I wouldn't be able to use it outdoors because of the heat factor. I bought a mei tai for this reason, thinking DD would be cooler, but she'll have none of the mei tai!!! So I just dress her very lightly and use the UBW.

As for other posters talking about their baby screaming while they are getting the wrap on--I imagine that could happen with many wraps, but I'll tell you, when DD sees that I am putting this on, she calms down and watches me. Kids learn quick, and I am convinced she knows she's about to be snuggled up next to Mama in a few seconds. In any case, even if she has to scream while I get it on, there are times where she won't stop being fussy or fall asleep if I am merely holding her in my arms. At 3 mo old, she still seems to need the swaddley feeling of the wrap. After being put inside, she's asleep with a little dancing and shhhh-ing in just a couple of minutes.

This is the best product I have purchased for my baby. I have bought this product for 2 friends since purchasing my own, and will continue to give this as a shower gift to every new mom. It has truly made a huge difference in my ability to not only get things done and go about the day, but also in my ability to soothe and mother my daughter in a way that she loves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfy & secure - but it gets filthy, October 2, 2005
By
BrainyGirl (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
At first, I loved this carrier. It feels very secure & comfortable for the baby & you. I had struggled with back pain using the Bjorn & my baby just kept getting heavier. (She's now 19 lbs at 5 1/2 months.) Since this distributes the weight over my hips and back, it's much more comfortable. It's very versatile, too - also unlike the Bjorn. I like being able to carry her on my hip. The only thing is that it is basically just an extremely long scarf of t-shirt fabric. While it's easy to put on at home, it's not something you want to try to mess with in a parking lot because there is just no way it's not going to drag on the ground while you get into it. (Especially if you're 5'1", like me!) Plus, the fabric attracts particles, so watch out for pet hair! I actually got mine in black from another web site, but I'd recommend the heather gray, instead of either the navy or black. The pet hair & fine debris just shows too much!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Carrier on the Market, May 12, 2005
By
This review is from: The Ultimate Baby Wrap in Navy (Baby Product)
I just had my 3rd baby and someone gave this carrier at my shower. At first, I was thinking that I would return it because I already have 3 other carriers that I used with my older two... that being said, I always complained about how much the others hurt my shoulders, neck and back. I read some reviews about this wrap and decided to give it a try. I have to admit that when I opened it up I almost put it away before even trying it. It looked a little weird and I wasn't quite sure it was worth all the fuss. I stuck in the video and watched it for 2 minutes and decided to try it. It took me about 5 minutes the first time to figure out how to make it comfortable for me and my daughter but after a little fiddling I put my daughter inside. I walked around and tried it out... checking out it would feel... LITERALLY, within seconds my daughter was asleep. I realized that this gave her a cocooned "womb-like" feeling and she was so happy and relaxed. The next day I put it on to go for a walk with my family and again, she was asleep in minutes. I walked for about an hour and when I got home, realized that I wasn't in ANY PAIN at all. The carrier didn't pull on my shoulders at ALL!!!! I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, just for fun put my 18 month old inside also and he loves it as much as the baby!!!! I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS CARRIER!!! Oh yeah, after the 2nd day I was able to whip this carrier on in about 30 seconds flat. It's way easier than any of the others... it just looks a little intimidating, but if you try it on it's AMAZING!!!
