5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Blues Guitar Instruction
This book, along with the CD (and/or Videos) is excellent. Keith Wyatt starts at the very beginning, and takes you up to intermediate material in progressive steps. If you work hard at it, by the time you finish this book, you will be quite accomplished. I played guitar years ago, and practicing 30 min to one hour a day, it will take me 6 to 9 months to master this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Effort but..............
The "book" part of this is good, IF you are already comfortable with a guitar.

I bought it because of the CD, I need the visual cues to help me along.

The CD is obviously taken from a video, and it seems to go off on it's own little path right about Track 13. The information is intersting but it has little or nothing to do with what is printed on...

You have to work at it, and use the right tools.
This is one of the best tools for an aspiring blues guitarist.

The CD is obviously taken from a video, and it seems to go off on it's own little path right about Track 13. The information is intersting but it has little or nothing to do with what is printed on the pages of the book.

I have been using another computer based program that puts this to shame.

Don't buy this if you want help from the CD, it won't provide it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for a Beginner...... Trust Me, June 14, 2011

I have had lots of how-to guitar books/CDs/Videos over the years. This book is not for a beginner. It quickly skims over the teaching points as though you should know it already. You can do lots better by going to Youtube and checking out the beginning blues lessons there.... Just my $.02 of course.

3.0 out of 5 stars There is a bundle for this that I wish I had known about, October 3, 2010

I own this. I have just started going through it and decided I really need the DVD. As I looked for the DVD, I found Ultimate Beginner Electric Guitar Basics: Steps One & Two (Book & DVD (Sleeve)) (The Ultimate Beginner) which is available at amazon.com and appears to include the material that the book I am reviewing says should be taken first. If I understand correctly, if I had known about the Book & DVD (which includes mp3s) I could have saved my money and just gotten the complete. I think that I will proceed to buy Ultimate Beginner Electric Guitar Basics: Steps One & Two (Book & DVD (Sleeve)) (The Ultimate Beginner).

So if you are considering buying the book here "BLUES GUITAR BASICS", I suggest you get the Ultimate Beginner Electric Guitar Basics: Steps One & Two (Book & DVD (Sleeve)) (The Ultimate Beginner) -- from what I read, you get everything included in "BLUES GUITAR BASICS" plus -- three books, accompanying DVD which includes mp3's.

It was hard to decide on a rating -- 3 may really be lower than this book deserves but with all the other things you get in the other (at about 2 times the price) -- I did not think I could rate higher than 3.

Overall this is a good intro to playing the blues. The CD is done well and sounds good. If I had it to do ovewr agian, I would get an instruction book that includes a DVD.

2.0 out of 5 stars not impressed, March 17, 2007
This review is from: The Ultimate Beginner Series: Blues Guitar Basics, Steps One & Two Combined (Paperback)
I've been playing for six months so when I read the reviews it seemed like this would be a decent place to start looking into the blues. Half the book is easy enough for my twelve year old son and half is way past me. I just wanted to learn some popular riffs and a couple songs but this book can not deliver. Spend your money somewhere else.

This book is good stuff for beginners but intermediates can get
something out of this as well.
Keith Wyatt is the man to get you inspired.
So if you want to learn BLUES, get down to it and BUY this book.
