There's definitely variety here. You can play against the computer, which can be set for easy, medium or hard, or you can play with up to five humans, which requires passing the controller around. A few games, like Mahjong, allow for solitaire play. All games have options for you to customize how they are played. Rules for all games are shown on screen.

There are a dozen backgounnd settings you can choose, like a tranquil garden, a cozy fire or a private den. You can also set the mood by having classical, pop or rock music playing as well. You can save your scores and view your high scores in the "trophy room." Of course, you need a memory card to do this.

Unlike some other reviewers, my blue disc copy of this game gave me no trouble at all loading into my PS2. This is a good game for the family to play together. A nice variety of games, most of which are easy to learn and fun to play.

Has some pretty good games, you can play with the cpu or with 2 players. Pretty good and it does work with my new ps2 silver. I was hesitant to buy it because of the other reviews, but gave it a shot, my new ps2 silver doesn't have a problem playing this disc.

I was so excited when I received this game because I remember playing all of these as a kid. However, when I began to play the games I was very disappointed... First of all it took forever for the disc to load up and when it finally did the games were not very user friendly. My favorite game (chinese checkers) which is why I purchased this game in the first place, was very difficult to play. The curser light keeps flashing but you have no control over how many times you move your piece, and when you finally get your piece to move it moves once and then the other players play so fast your completely lost! My second favorite game is mancala which was an absolute mess! The pieces move around the board so fast you have no idea what is going on! Also, the music is terrible, I actually had to shut it off because it was annoying. After being irritated that I could not enjoy either of my favorite games, I played quatro and enigma a couple of times then got bored. I was expecting this game to be like "hoyle board games" (for pc not ps2) which is AMAZING!!!!! Graphics, user friendly great music, this is NOTING like that :-( If it did not cost more in shipping then the actual game I would return it. Now it will just sit in the box and collect dust. Don't waste your money, your better off going to "toys r us" and purchasing the actual board game, in my opinion.

I should have read the reviews first. This game came fast and quick but does not show up on my ps2. It shows up as error on my ps2. I just wish I read the reviews first before I bought this game.

There are a lot of games to play but they are all a little boring. It takes to long to actually move because of all the animations.

3.0 out of 5 stars blue disc games, January 2, 2008

I'm sorry. I've never played this game. I just wanted to share my secret to getting those blue disc games to play in your ps2. If you can't get your ps2 to read those blue disc older games, here's how i get them to work. simply take some scotch tape,& tape a square around the hole in the center of the disc. Try to tape the square as close to the hole as you can get it, without covering the hole. Once you've taped your square, it should work. It's worked every time for me, & I hope it works for you to.

2.0 out of 5 stars This game cheats!, July 5, 2011
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ultimate Board Game Collection (Video Game)
I got it to work no problem on my PS2, but, in addition to control issues like what others have had, I found myself losing when the AI would constantly roll just the right die amount, always know where my ships were, and even change the rules, mid-game, in chess (My pawn can't make a two-space diagonal attack but the opponent can?).

I originally bought this for Go, because I wanted an electronic version. That game isn't bad, but if you play a certain way, you can slaughter the AI every time.

It might be fun against other people, but if you're playing alone, be warned that the AI very-visibly cheats!

Ok, I guess I misled myself on this one. My parents have this game for their Wii, and I enjoyed playing it when I was there. So when I saw it was available for my PS2 (and cheap) I thought 'why not?' But it was nothing like the Wii version, not even half the same games. Plus, it doesn't even work on my PS2! I played it at somebody's else's house with no problem, but I get a disk error on mine! Could be an error on my end, but I have no problems playing any other game. So this was a disappointing buy.

I bought this game thinking it would be fun and help pass the time, when I got the game in the mail I was very excited and ready to have hours of good play, so I hurried and unwrapped the game and and excitedly put the game into my console, and waited, and waited and waited for the game to load, and to my disbelief the game would not even play, kept saying disc read error. So i wasted my money and have learned not to buy games online because you never know until you get it if its going to work or not.
