Full title; Ultimate Boney M. - Long Versions and Rarities. Excellent 2008 collection from the European Dance/Disco outfit containing extended and alternate mixes of their big hits. Boney M were put together by songwriter, producer and svengali Frank Farian as a 'front' for his own musical output. Although the three female members of Boney M appeared on the band's recordings, Farian supplied the male voice while DJ and dancer Bobby Farrell provided the face. Includes extended mixes of 'Rivers Of Babylon', 'Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord', 'Bahama Mama', 'Ribbons Of Blue' and more. Sony/BMG.

I have been a huge fan of Boney M. for 30 years and until today, I had never heard the remixes of My Friend Jack and I See a Boat. Wow!! This CD is worth buying just for My Friend Jack. It is totally remixed and restructured from the single version. I See a Boat is exactly the same, but with a nice little instrumental bit near the end of the song. Could have been so much better, but still nice to have. Children of Paradise and Gadda-da-Vida are standouts, as well. I have had those on vinyl since they came out. All in all, this is a great collection of extended mixes and a must for the fans. Hopefully we will see African Moon and Jambo on the next volume.
