1.0 out of 5 stars This is basically a do-it-yourself DVD, way overpriced in my opinion
The information in the dvd is quite good, but it is home-made DVD that anyone with some DVD software and a video camera could make. There are no menus and it some of the discs are just DVD-Rs with a computer printed sticker label. The editing is awful, sometimes it will just cut off in the middle of a sentence. And there's no chapters. For this price I would expect a much...

Chris Getz is a very knowledgable and articulate coach who definetly knows his stuff. As an intermediate practitioner the techniques and tips presented have really helped me improve my skills. Coach Getz demonstration of how to develop more punching power has really improved my hitting power and accuracy. I plan on purchasing more boxing DVDs by coach Getz and highly recommend his instruction to anyone wanting to learn the true sport of boxing. Great value and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Boxing Package! A++, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Boxing Fundamentals (DVD)
I recently received the Christopher Getz Ultimate Boxing 8 DVD Boxed Set and on first pass I am impressed. There is so much information it took me over a week just to view them all. I have over 40 pages of notes after watching just half of them. Getz is a very skilled and knowledgeable teacher who is never boring as he breaks down all the techniques and strategies in a way you can easily learn them. The lessons are very well structured and all DVDs compliment the others. Everything is covered from equipment to basic and advanced techniques so I must say this series offers a complete package on Boxing which is what I have been searching for and finally found with this set. The best thing is besides the physical routines, the lessons open your eyes as to how sophisticated and technical the sport of boxing really is. Boxing is a game of chess and to succeed Coach Getz teaches you to be a smart fighter as well as a fit fighter. The series is a total package with hundreds of techniques, tips and strategies that can make anyone who studies them a complete fighter. A++ Very good investment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boxing Fundamentals First, April 7, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Boxing Fundamentals (DVD)
I also have 4 of the Getz Ultimate Boxing DVDs with the Fundamentals being my favorite. Beginning Boxers will want to master this lesson first since it builds your boxing skills for all the other techniques to follow. What is impressive about all his lessons is Getz attention to the small details behind every technique needed for achieving optimum power and execution. Coach Getz has done a fine job with the information and presentation on a sport few people have true knowledge of. These are great looking shows with excellent production quality that everyone interested in the sport should have in their reference library. I look forward to getting all titles in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Video for Beginners!, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Boxing Fundamentals (DVD)
For anyone that wants to pick up boxing this is the absolute best instructional video you can buy. It has all of the things you need to know and how to start as a boxer. It teaches you proper stance and movement, how to wrap your wrists and hands properly, some beginner exercises, how to throw a proper jab, straight, hook, uppercut and overhand right and where to start using a heavy bag. His instruction is easy to follow along with and you will find yourself using his phrases to remember what to do. I must say that the overall production of the video is flat out horrible and the editing and lighting looks like he had some kids come in with a camera a make a middle school project. There is no menu at all and when looking for a specific section you will find that you will have to skip to its closest location and rewind or fast forward from there. Seriously, when you skip scenes it just goes into the middle of another one. It could show more angles and maybe used more than just one camera but the instruction is well worth the bad production quality. I would recommend this video to anyone in a heartbeat. The only reason it got 4 stars is because of the downright laughable production.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it, March 27, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Boxing Fundamentals (DVD)
There is a lot of detailed information in these videos. I have bought 4 of the Boxing videos so far and I always end up reviewing them over and over again. The series itself will teach you boxing from beginner to advanced. I would definetely recommend this to anyone getting into boxing. I especially like the combinations and counter punching videos the best. Although I would suggest to start with the Fundamentals first.

There are no menus and it some of the discs are just DVD-Rs with a computer printed sticker label. The editing is awful, sometimes it will just cut off in the middle of a sentence. And there's no chapters. For this price I would expect a much more professional DVD. If it was half the price, it would totally justify the content-- hence the low rating. Let the buyer beware!

5.0 out of 5 stars Boxing Made Easy, August 5, 2005

With no prior experience I have been able to develope some decent boxing skills with this DVD. It's a nice quality program that is easy to follow covering all the basics for building a strong boxing foundation. I like the way the Coach demonstrates the dangers of doing a technique wrong and how your opponent can take advantage of your mistakes if you mess up. It really hits home on the importance of all the little things you must perfect to avoid getting hit while sparring. Good boxing gyms and coaches are hard to find but with this DVD brings a great coach right to your home. I like that.

This review is from: Ultimate Boxing Fundamentals (DVD)
After watching 2 of these videos (1 and 8), I learned a good amount of the fundamentals of boxing. It contains info on footwork, punching types and basic combos. I fully intend to watch the rest of the series, however I do not look forward to Chris' presentation style or the video production quality. The overall feel of this video was "home made" and Chris' onscreen presence is rather flat. This wasn't helped by his training partner who remained completely silent throughout the entire movie. It could have benefited from real world samples, dynamic camera work and an interactive training partner(s) (not to mention a personality injection).

If you want the info and don't care how it's delivered, this series may be what you're looking for. I hope Chris learns a few lessons from this first series and produces something more digestable in the near future.
