The writing style is very annoying.

The Ultimate Breathing Workout contains some of the best exercises for vocalists that I have ever seen. It makes a great companion to Raise Your Voice. Do you ever seem to run out of air before you finish the lines of a song, or have you ever wanted to be able to scream and hold out notes like some of your favorite Metal singers? (Such as Geoff Tate from Queensryche, Eric Adams from Manowar, Jim Gillette from Nitro.) The exercises contained within this book will train you to be able to do it. I've studied breathing for quite some time for meditative purposes, and you would be surprised at how much information you would have to sift through before you came up with a concise plan for building your lung power.

The Ultimate Breathing Workout WILL deliver the goods in this area. Jaime Vendera's first book teaches you how to train your vocal chords. This one will teach you how to train the muscles that actually control your breathing so that you can have the ultimate in vocal delivery - true support when you breathe. Give it three months of honest daily practice, and it WILL change the way your breathe and sing forever.

I'm a much better singer now because of this book. The tips and techniques that are found in this book have proven to be extremely valuable.

I thank the author for sharing the knowledge. None of my previous voice teachers had been able to explain the proper breathing techniques as well as Jaime Vendera.

I'm an advanced beginner who's been taking voice lessons for about 4 years now. I found "The Ultimate Breathing Workout" very helpful and would definitely recommend it. The tone of the writing is annoying, there's no question about that. I appreciate Jaime Vendera's enthusiasm, but his self-promotion and goofiness start to grate. In the end though, it's in the exercises he describes that the value lies. The exercises were helpful to me both in strengthening my breathing and in making me aware of the muscles I needed to engage. He proposes certain exercises (such as holding your breath) that other writers (Richard Miller for example) dismiss, but nothing he suggests seems dangerous to me or too wacky. Likewise, I've found that his workout provides a very useful singing warm-up as well.

This review is from: The Ultimate Breathing Workout (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
A simple although short exercise book, with only 70 pages.
Yet the exercises are easy to follow, simple and very effective, I've got results just after two weeks!

A very good book for those who want to increase their lung capacity and power control.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breath control is the key, March 3, 2010
This review is from: The Ultimate Breathing Workout (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
This book is a valuable tool for any singer striving to increase the range and power of their voice. The exercises presented by the author in this book are simple to perform, but are challenging as any training program should be. Results are easily gauged, and you will definitely see the improvements in your live performances.

This book combined with Raise Your Voice is awesome. The workout is kinda intense at first but you get used to it. Its really the best way I've seen to make quick improvements.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Far, It's A Great Book - good explanations!!!, January 6, 2009
This review is from: The Ultimate Breathing Workout (Revised Edition) (Paperback)
So far, I really like this book. I have gotten to the point at which you are suppose to stop for 2 weeks and practice abdominal breathing until it is natural for you. You have three excercises to do to help this process become reality. My only disappointment would be that his website www.ultimatebreathing.com doesn't currently have the breathing test on it. It says "coming soon" however it is not a new book. Not sure what the deal is there. You can do it on www.breathing.com though. The author of this website is the developer of the test used by Jaime Vendera.
Overall I am pleased and would recommend the book.

The only book I have found to comprehensively and specifically cover the topic of breathing and breath support.

If you truly want to learn to sing well, meaning powerfully, as well as softly, sing long sustained phrases & notes, or perhaps quick short notes you must learn the correct way to inhale and exhale for singing.

Vendera's book will not only help get you there, but make you a virtual master. I cannot recommend this one highly enough.
