Incomplete Collection,

Yes I do like this greastest hots collection of Shanice's songs but there's a couple of tight Shanice songs missing! Such as "It's For You" with Brett Bouldin. Now that was a tight song from the "Meteor Man" soundtrack. What about Saving Forever For You" off the Beverly Hills 90210 soundtrack?! Anyway, enough of the complaints, LOL! This collection begins with a clip of Shanice singing "Jesus Loves Me" when she was a lil girl, which was also the bonus track on "21..Ways To Grow. Oops! Did I give that away? Now you hear the all the grown-up Shanice on the Keep Your Inner Child Alive interlude. Track 3 is Shanice's biggest hit called "I Love Your Smile", an uptempo favorite Shanice song. The next song was Shanice's first and #1 single called "(Baby Tell Me) Can You Dance". "No 1/2 Steppin'" was her 2nd which also peaked #1 on the charts. Track 6 is a cute song for a "Do I know you" which can relate to a 14-year-old. Shanice sounds mature on "Just a Game". Another one of my personal favorites is "The Way You Love Me", it doesn't sound 80s to me. Now lets take it back to the 90s with "Lovin' You". Shanice did a good job with this Minnie Riperton remake. "I'm Cryin'" kinda makes you wanna cry; it's a good song. "Silent Prayer" is a duet with Johnny Gill. "You Were The One" makes me cry cuz its such a good song. Shanice wrote this song about her friend getting dumped by her boyfriend. Track 13 "You Didn't Think I'd Come Back This Hard" will cheer you up from all those tears. "Somewhere" kinda sounds like "It's For You", but has a slower beat. I'm not feeling tracks 15-18 except the sexy song #17 called "Turn Down The Lights". Overall, this a nice collection. But this album needs "It's For You" & "Saving Forever For You".

I'm waiting for this album for long long time, but too bad,...some of Shanice Wilson songs are missed. There's no "It's For You", "Saving Forever For You" and "Don't Break My Heart". This is incomplete greatest hits..hope Shanice would remake this greatest hits record again.

SHE'S BEEN OUT 14 YEARS,
By Sommer Knight (Atlanta) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ultimate Collection: The Best of (Audio CD)
People forget that just because Shanice Wilson is still under 30yrs old she has been around 14 years. That is more than enough time allowed to have a greatest hits album. Now if she had enough material to put together for an ultimate collection is debatable. I think the main reason why "When I close my eyes & Yesterday", off her latest CD is not in this collection is because she switched record lables & joined Laface. The old company would have to get Laface permission before releasing that material. I saw a collection of Diana Ross hits & the Cd was titled, "The Rca Years". Well we know most of her hits were with Motown so I'm sure that collection is just sitting on the shelve. I like this collection & I was glad to know great songs like, "You were the one for me", that was never released as a single made it to her collection.

A Spectacular Collection From One Of R&B's Most Gifted Treasures,

It's exciting that Shanice has her best hits and then some all compiled into this greatest hits album. She is indeed one of the most overlooked female singers in the R&B realm and she has what several overexposed female singers today lack: talent. This disc has all the goods; her hits("I Love Your Smile", "Can You Dance?", "No 1/2 Steppin'", "The Way You Love Me", "I'm Cryin'", and "Silent Prayer" to name a few)and some tunes that were never released("Do I Know You", "Just A Game", and "Never Changing Love"). Although there are a few tunes missing on this set, no fan of Shanice's music should be without this one.

I've always loved her voice, but have had problems with the material she chooses or the material that has been chosen for her. Where is "This Time" the duet she does with the Detroit duo Kiara? Why not include "Yesterday" or "When I close my eyes" from her latest cd?

Shanice's Ultimate Collection CD is the bomb!,

Recently I was at "Spin", a gay video bar in Chicago on Halsted and Belmont in Boystown. They played Shanice's video of her hit "I Love Your Smile". While sipping on a pint of Bass, I fondly recalled when this song came out. I really loved the production and arrangement, and her vocals were just the icing on the cake! She completely nailed a very challenging vocal and rhythm arrangement with this song. Its really a completely feel good, upbeat R&B song. But melodically, a daunting challenge for any vocalist with that high pitched, bouncy intro (doo doo doo doo doo doo do !!!) The next day I decided to see what was offered of her work on Amazon.com, and came across her Ultimate Collection. I ordered it. It arrived promptly 2 days later. I put it on my stereo and was just BLOWN AWAY at the fantastic songs and the production! The CD opens with a cute nostalgic little snippet of her singing "Jesus Loves Me" in church as a little girl, out of key, as well as the untuned piano backing her! But this is immediatly followed by a beautiful vocal interlude of her singing "Keep Your Inner Child Alive" which immediatly makes the listener say to themselves....God, she definitely matured into a great female vocalist since then!! Next comes my reason for getting the CD..."I Love Your Smile" (Cranked it, dancing around in my Lincoln Park studio apartment) She gets funky on "No 1/2 Steppin". But what follows in contrast, is one of the lushest R&B ballads I've heard in recent years called "Do I Know You". She sings so sweetly and beautifully, backed by some of the best synthesizer and background production. You need to sip on some good wine while listening to Shanice's ballads on this CD. They are simply works of art. Literally journeys into utopia of the sonic senses! Ballads like "Just A Game" follow complete suit to "Do I Know You" by the choice of colors of the synthesizers, chordal production, that simply lay a riverbed of perfect foundation to her gorgeous voice. She SOARS vocally on "Just A Game" Shanice simply opens up to a new level of vocal prowess on songs like "Just A Game" the moment you think you've felt she's given her all. Its hard to describe. This CD is a MUST for R&B ballad lovers! Some of her past hits like "The Way You Love Me", "Lovin You" (remake of Minnie Ripperton's version) are fantastic. (Her remake of "Lovin You" is unique, and relevant. I usually hate remakes, but when an artist like Shanice reaches down to her own stylings to enhance the original...well then I'm sold!) "Turn Down The Lights" ends out the Collection as another variation of the great vocals of her hit, "I Love Your Smile" Trust me, you'll walk away smiling for sure after this unbelievable compilation of her talents. My wish would be one day to see her live. I can only imagine how great a concert that would be! Peace. Rob Jackimiec/Chicago

This CD should be called the GREATEST COLLECTION! This CD has all Shanice's old songs. This girl has pure natural talent. I can say that I am the proud owner of this CD. All the songs on this CD are my favorite. I especially love "Never Changing Love". I have played that song at least a 100 times and still I love it just as much as the first time that I heard it. If you love Shanice, you will enjoy this CD.

Shanice used to be one of my favourite female singers until she 'disappeared' at the end of the 90's. Now I hear she is back, it made me revisit her music and I remember why I loved her voice and music. Cryin, Silent Prayer and Way You Love Me are some of her best songs. She was a big talented force there for a while, and if you listen to this great compilation of her best work, you'll know why. I'm loving this again, and look forward to when I receive her new cd. In the mean time, this is fantastic stuff and something all her fans will appreciate.

No "It's For You"?,

What's a Shanice greatest hits collection without "It's For You"? That still is one of my favorites songs of all time. Come on, they can put all these other unmentionables on here, but no "It's For You"? It's a travesty, if you ask me.P.S.: It's a little early in the game for a Shanice "greatest hits" collection. I think the reason she made this album may stem from the fact that she had a contractual agreement with Motown to release a greatest hits LP before she could migrate to LaFace records. Maybe that's why.

This Ultimate Collection is just for the Shanice fan in you! Sure some songs are missing, but for me, that's okay. Hopefully, when she releases another collection, those will be included. So many of my favorites are packed into this disc, and these were recording that I wasn't able to purchase on cassette or vinyl, so that made even more for me. LOVED IT!
