Most DeBarge songs are very good, but I purchased this collection specifically for "Rhythm of the Night". I was very disappointed when I listened to the dance mix, which is the only version of the song on this CD. The drum beat is significantly louder, and an echo effect is used on some of the words. This CD should have included the original mix of the song, not just a crappy remix. I will sell this disc back at my local CD store, and will look for a DeBarge greatest hits collection with the original "Rhythm of the Night".

Debarge as a group and El had a rare classic sound that no other artist today has been able to master. The lyrics, music and the total all around feeling that Debarge gives you has no equal. They are and always will be my all time favorite group.

This is a must for every music collection. EL DeBarge is a quintessential artist whose musical talent is extremely underrated. Plus, their sister Bunny, could give Mariah Carey a run for her money. Songs like "All This Love" and "Time Will Reveal" are certified tear jerkers and the ultimate ballads. Buy this CD!! JW

I was the ultimate Debarge fan now at 29 I still say they were very unique in their sound especially EL he sung most of the lead and he could get off and hit notes I still strain to hit and I a woman..=) Truly blessed they are I love the songs most of them anyway they were simple yet touching. I say they have not gotten their props ..I want to take the time to give them their Props..They are Darn Good..That's my review=)

This collection is wonderful -- if you grew up listening to DeBarge, then this is the collection to buy.

DeBeage is one of the greatest groups to ever grace the mic. El and Ralph Tresvant are the only singers who cna hang with Micahel Jackson.The most in-depth collection of the group's work available, DeBarge's Ultimate Collection gathers 16 of the group's biggest hits from the early and mid-'80s. The compilation includes milestone singles such as "Love Me in a Special Way," "Who's Holding Donna Now?," "Who's Johnny?," and a dance remix of "Rhythm of the Night"; it would've been nice if the album also included the original version. The group's slightly less-definitive tracks reveal them to be equally adept at lively, upbeat pop like "You Wear It Well," sweet ballads such as "A Dream," and surprisingly funk- and soul-tinged turns like "Stop! Don't Tease Me" and "I Like It." Latter-day singles such as "Save the Best for Me (Best of Your Lovin')" and "Dance All Night" round out the album nicely; though they don't have the impact of the group's work with El DeBarge, including them gives Ultimate Collection a feeling of closure and completion.

this family was bad as a unit. and what's so scary was there another group with debarges that got some love but not full love the group was Switch. El Debarge is Badd to this day. not only as a musician but the vocals still deliever check him out on Q's with love and Dj Quik's new one.all this love,I like it, and count-less others are featured here. not to mention all the samples and remakes.this group had there own style and sound. I wish El would get his proper props cuz bro Man is badd.he is as versatile as Michael Jackson..

El Debarge and family laid some of the best smoothed out R & B of all time. Stay with Me, All this Love, I like it, A Dream, Time will Reveal(One their best Songs), Love me in a special way, and pretty much the rest of this greatest hits collection is a must have for any music lover.

the debarge family musically has been long overshadowed by comparrisons to the jacksons in more ways than James Debarge&Janet jackson of being together. but Debarge was able to write some of there material unlike the Jacksons. El Debarge was not only the Lead singer,but also the main songwriter of there classics."I Like it,all this Love are played all the time at Quiet storm radio, the song "a dream" has made Careers out of Biggie,Ashanti,Mary J.Bliege amongest others. for a whole on Radio alot of songs were sampling some parts of debarge songs. I was hit&Miss with the More Cross-over stuff they did,but as far as Songwriting,Singing&Playing El Debarge is a really good talent that is vastly underrated.this is a good collection.
