Ultimate Collection is yet another greatest hits album in the Dolly Parton catalogue. 30 tracks of Dolly's hits over her career of 30+ years in country music. The first disc lends itself to many of her country hits, and some duets with Porter Wagoner, while the second disc finds more of Dolly's pop hits. There are a few gems in this collection: Dolly's cover of Great Balls of Fire, and the Holy Roller mix of Peace Train. This is a nice collection that will tide fans over until we are treated to a Dolly box set.

Nice overview of Dolly's career taking the bulk of the sets from her RCA years + a few Columbia hits -- the real find on this 2cd set is the inclusion of the Flip Hit, "Great Balls of Fire" on cd.

The first cd of this two cd set is a great selection of Dolly's early country years and her first pop excursions. The second cd has far too much of her forgettable pop stuff - most of which you can find in plenty of other compilations - but it at least finishes with a dance remix of "Peace Train", which is not only a fantastic song but actually has some dance floor credibility.

Even with 30 tracks, though, the running times of these cd's barely break 45 minutes each (the second is slightly longer), which is a little miserly given the mountain of outstanding early material remaining unreleased.
