If your taste in Tina is the later pop work- this CD is not for you. These are the tunes of their high energy stage shows [some live] and they are not the refined, heavily tuned and produced later pop hits. If you are a fan of the old Ike and Tina revue, this is a must have.

Take equal parts R&B, soul, blues & rock'n'roll, & you have the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. This is their definitive, most comprehensive collection. Great covers of the Beatles, Sly & the Family Stone, Elton John, Creedence Clearwater, etc, as well as great Ike & Tina originals show why they are quite possibly the best soul act of all time. Four CD's for a ridiculously low price.

I was unfamiliar with Ike and Tina before buying this album, other than hearing the live version of "Proud Mary". This is raw, blistering music. Mostly it's their late 60's, early 70's work. The whole collection works out to approx 160 mins (~40 mins/disc), so they might have fit the whole thing on 3 CDs, but it's still an excellent value for $... Although it's missing some of their hits, all of the songs are worth listening to, and I'm not sure where you can find a larger Ike & Tina collection.
