Released November 28, 2000, this four disc boxed-set is an essential element in any funk enthusiast's collection. The discs cover Mandrill's complete Polydor recordings 1970-1974 (sans "Mandrilland")in a sleek package fit for any Mandrill beginner or alpha funk pioneer. Underground funk classics like "Fencewalk", "Ape is High", and "Mango Meat" garnish the collection, touching on Afro-Cuban rhythms with buttery bass lines as well as raw Meters-esque jams. This collection is a must-have.
