I enjoyed the story. The drawings are pretty nice actually, but could be a bit better in terms of details. For example, a character doesnt always look like himself/herself in every page. Overall, a nice spiderman comic, it doesnt disappoint!

Bendis is a master storyteller and the Ultimate Spider Man, which he has written from the beginning, is consistently a superior read. With every page, you have no doubt you are reading the story of a 16 year old's life. It just so happens that this 16 year old has extraordinary powers, a strong morality and a sense of guilt that drives his motivations to do good...and results in mayhem for his family and those close to him.

Part of the magic is that this universe is different than the traditional one we know where Spider-Man lives. This one is more up-to-date, in actions and language. It's incredible fun to see how the characters differ from the mainstream Spider-Man series. One of these magic moments is J Jonah Jamison actually being grateful (and showing that gratitude) for Spider-Man savings his life. We all would love to see that in the mainstream series but it would ruin the continuity there. Here, we rejoice in Peter Parker's gain.

The stories are well paced, and the dialog is clever but still feels real. The characterization is brilliant, even if you have to relearn who they are and what they stand for in this universe (which I said is part of the fun). And this particular series is bitter sweet, as the title of the book "Death of Spider-Man prelude" hints at what will happen next.

If this is your introduction to Ultimate Spider-Man, do yourself a favor and start at the very beginning. You won't want to miss this adventure from the beginning.
