4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginner's book
Having had a little exposure to doing a workout with an exercise ball, I was looking for something I could use on my own at home. This book is thoughtfully written, clear about what to focus on and concise about how to progress from level to level without injury. As a former dancer I really appreciated the instructions for alignment, and would recommend this book to...

Badly organized. Poor illustrations and instructions. Quite possibly the worst exercise book I've ever owned.
I will donate this to the library next trip so at least I can get 50% of the face value as a tax deduction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purchased for Exercise Ball Class, May 9, 2007

I am a certified group fitness instructor. I purchased this book in order to prepare to teach a weekly one-hour exercise ball class. This book is excellent because it offers information about progression (the order in which to perform specific exercises). It also offers suggestions for "5-minute total core blasts," if you have limited time on a particular day. The descriptions and photos provide all of the details you need to get started...and get a great core workout. I definitely recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Starting Point For Newbies, April 23, 2006
This review is from: Ultimate Core Ball Workout: Strengthening and Sculpting Exercises with Over 200 Step-by-Step Photos (Paperback)
As a pro trainer, I am very fond of books that are helpful to the fitness beginner.

If you are just starting out and interested in a good program utilizing the exercise ball, then this book is one you will want to add to your fitness library.

Great variations with good progression plan.

I am a physical therapist. I utilize core strengthening with all of my low back pained patients. With a strong core, you decrease you risk of low back injury greatly. This book was very helpful to me since I have all kinds of patients at different stages of rehab. This book has tons of beginner, moderate and advanced exercises that I can use with all my patients.

I knew little about training with a physio ball -- and I'm glad I got this book. The exercises in here are useful and they are suitable for all levels of fitness. They are organized in ways that make it easy to create your own routine. I've photocopied pages and taken them to the gym and shared them with others who were equally delighted with the book (and I hope they bought it, too!).

Forget everything you THOUGHT you knew about core training: this book will blow you away. No gimmicks, no empty promises, no cheats. Just an ON THE BALL workout for those of you who are serious about getting in shape.

In an area where precious few GREAT books have been written (with all due respect to Colleen Craig and James Milligan), I finally have something to recommend to my clients. A familiar face to those of us in the fitness industry, Ms. Detz FINALLY brings some of the best kept secrets in pliometrics to the masses.

Ultimate Core Ball Workout will send your body into the stratosphere and personal trainers to the unemployment line.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Detz in person at her last book signing, and I can tell you that she's the real deal, and this book is her forumula for success!

This is not one of those books whipped out by some writer with no first hand knowledge of the exercises they teach. Ms. Detz is a fitness guru who practices what she preaches and more. Every one of these exercises has been tested in the field and proven to work!

If you are serious about your abs, this is the book to get!

If you're looking for a hardCORE workout, this is definitely the one for you. Ms. Detz does a masterful job of establishing an easy to follow, well organized guide to strengthening abs, and toning your core from top to bottom, and oblique to oblique.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exercise ball book review, June 13, 2010

This review is from: Ultimate Core Ball Workout: Strengthening and Sculpting Exercises with Over 200 Step-by-Step Photos (Paperback)
The Ultimate Core Ball Workout book has excellent descriptions and photos of exercises to do on an exercise ball. The exercises are grouped not only by level of difficulty, but also by what part of the body is being worked, or if it is merely a stretch exercise. My back and core instructor really liked the book when I showed it to her, and she was able to pinpoint the exercises suitable for me.

This review is from: Ultimate Core Ball Workout: Strengthening and Sculpting Exercises with Over 200 Step-by-Step Photos (Paperback)
I am pretty fit and when I first rec this it looked too basic. I tried one or two exercises and found that this can be very intense! Great techniques on stretching, and form for best results. As I explore each exercise I am learning something new thats helpful!
Worth a look!
