5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing variety of country songs from old to new.
I found this to be an excellent music book. The variety is great, ranging all the way from old Hank Willimas songs to current George Strait hits. With over 700 songs, I have spent many, many evenings turning pages and playing song after song. Each one contains lyrics and guitar chord labels. The print seems a bit small at first, but you will get used to it. The...

1.0 out of 5 stars Way Too Old
Do not buy this book unless you are looking for very old country material. It hardly has any of the newer material. For example, Garth Brooks has sold millions of albums and this book has four or five of his songs. Virtually no Faith Hill, Tanya Tucker, Martina McBride etc. If you still think country music is the type of music played 40 years ago then you might like it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Country Music, August 20, 2005

I think it is a FANTASTIC collection of country tunes. Some of the older tunes are some of the greatest in country music, and I'm glad this book is here to fill the void. Country music isn't what it used to be, and this book has some genuine country tunes that many people don't know or have never heard. Most of what passes for country music nowadays is not country at all but watered-down rock. These are some of the tunes I grew up with, and this book is well worth the price if you are looking for REAL country music. Songs that were sung by Eddy Arnold, Webb Pierce, Don Gibson, Mel Tillis, Hank Williams, Dottie West, Ferlin Husky and many, many others. There's enough material in this book to last you for years. If real country is what you are looking for, then buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ulimate Country Fake Book (and others), August 7, 2010

This review is from: The Ultimate Country Fake Book: C Instruments (Fake Books) 5th Edition (Plastic Comb)
I am learning to play a musical instrument in my retirement and I found a group of people who jam every week. I stumbled on the "fake books" and ordered one of these to help me learn some music to play at the jams. Then more people wanted copies of the same book so we could use them at the jams and call out a page number with everybody on the same page. The Fake Books have been as helpful to me learning to play my accordion as any of the lesson materials. The other people at my sessions play other instruments and some of them have played for their living in symphony orchestras. They ALL like the fake books.

Wonderful and easy-to-play songs. If you love the "old" country music (Elvis, Hank Williams, etc.) you will love this! I had music lessons many, many years ago when I was a kid and now I finally have the time to get back into playing. I have learned the chords and discovered fake books and am having a wonderful time. I highly recommend this book. You'll have everyone singing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Collection, October 7, 2010

This review is from: The Ultimate Country Fake Book: C Instruments (Fake Books) 5th Edition (Plastic Comb)
The book contains country music that was "country" music and not the today's music that tries to pass as country music. The only disappointment was that there was suppossed to be some Jerry Lee Lewis songs included but there is not. Notwithstanding the Lewis music, the book provides many hours of enjoyment.

This is a great fake book for a country collection. It has old and new classic country and is written quite well with some instrumentals added. Just a ton of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Book!, June 4, 2009
This review is from: The Ultimate Country Fake Book: C Instruments (Fake Books) 5th Edition (Plastic Comb)
I really like this book for 2 reasons....First of all, it has a good variety of music in it.....Most of it is older music up to maybe the mid 80's....I LOVE THE OLD STUFF so this was perfect. The second reason I really like the book is because I am new to "fake books". I am just learning the technique of playing from one. There are alot of songs that are quite easy to start with and plenty of songs that will require alittle more knowledge before I get to them. Hal Leonard puts out a good book! Spiral bound is really important because the book is quite big.

I really love this book. There is a wide variety of songs, not to mention a TON of songs. Once you learn how to play from a fake book, you can be playing songs that everyone will recognize in no time. Get this book and you will not be disappointed!
