Why would anyone buy a used X-word puzzle book?,

I have purchased several of these books in the past . . at a reasonable price. Have a couple of questions here - - why would anyone purchase a "used" crossword puzzle book? - - and what has happened to the prices on new ones? $300 or more? when in the past they sold for under $20???
