It is dance music. I heard a singer on WBGO and really liked her. When the set was over I waited to hear who it was. Having never heard of Deborrah Cox before I thought that I had discoverd a great Jazz singer. So I bought two of her CD,s. The other one was good.

Chances are a lot of people don't know much about Deborah Cox. She's Done Broadway, including the lead in Disney's Aida, she's done Hollywood, and she's dominated the Club and R&B charts for the last 8 years, so how is that possible? Well, for one thing, she's good, maybe too good. In a world of the ever engaged and married J.Lo (who undortunatley has two different people for each), not to mention Ms. Lo's umm- "Talent", and let's not forget the ever fascinating Mrs. Federline who wants the press to leave her alone, yet she's still willing to have her private life taped for a TV reality show, and then there's Whitney- where do you start with her?

Deborah, who once served as a back up singer to fellow Canadian Celine Dion, has a vocie that can smooth to any ballad, and go to the greatest gospel vocals, putting even Whitney to shame, and she comes equipped with just some of the best Dance Mixes, actually, almost every song she records, including "Easy as Life" from Aida can be found in Remix form, and these mixes leave Miss Britney and the new Mrs. Marc Anthony in the dust.

If you still don't know Deborah, or you LOVE her, this is a must have CD. From the Catchy dance hit "Who Do U Love" to "Absolutley Not" to the Valentin Mix of "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven" (which makes the original Phil Collins Version as a cold and lonely poser by comparison)- to a duet with the Whitney Herself. Ultimate? Quintessential, Imcomparable,Exceptional, Deborah Cox.

5.0 out of 5 stars ULTIMATE IS RIGHT!!!, October 17, 2004

Deborah is the only artist that has a mixture of r@b,hip-hop,ballads and club music. This is her best!! Her dance mixes are the hinrg mixes that are played in the clubs. Mixes from ,Junior,Hani and the very hinrg Hex Hextor. From the slow to fast version of "NOBODY'S SUPPOSE TO BE HERE" to her new song "SOMETHING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN". R@B classics like "SENTIMENTAL", "SEPTEMBER". Her powerful ballads "WE CAN'T BE FRIENDS" (duet with R.L. from NEXT)and the duet with Whitney Houston "SAME SCRIPT, DIFFERENT CAST". Her hip-hop songs "IT COULD'VE BEEN YOU" and "UP AND DOWN".
If you want more hinrg I recommend Deborah's "REMIXED" cd.
Of course, all of her cd's are terrific!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate R&B and Dance Diva, May 21, 2004
This review is from: Ultimate Deborah Cox (Audio CD)
Deborah Cox is by for the most sophisticated R&B singer around today. Her elegance and class are truly superior. This album chronicles her R&B hits as well as some of her dance remixes. The unique thing about her is she has these two disctint styles, yet is superb at both. The ballad "we can't be friends" brings tears to my eyes everytime I see it. When I'm at a club and one of Ms. Cox's remixes comes on, I'm all over the dance floor. Included on this album, are the remixes to "Things Just Ain't The Same", and "Play your Part" two of my favorite remixes. It also includes the duet with Whitney Houston, "Same Script, Different Cast", which would've been a smash hit had Ms. Houston been well at the time it was to be released. Deborah's got something for everyone, just give her a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of R&B's best voices., December 21, 2005

I actually think her voice is superior to fellow songstress Whitney Houston. I don't know what Clive Davis (i've had issues with him recently) was thinking when he dropped her from his J Records label. Hopefully that means she'll have better records and sales now. Anyways, about the album, it includes her classic hits like "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here", the remake of "Just Be Good to Me" and her breakthrough hit "Who Do You Live." Fans of her techno music do not fear! Her dance mix hits are included as well...which put Cox in a whole new genre she never really expected. You will be amazed at her flawless voice throughout this collection. My favorites are "Just Be Good To Me", "I Never Knew (Hani Remix)", "Same Script Different Cast" and "Who Do You Love." Highly reccomended to R&B/Deborah Cox.

I was really disappointed that the one song that I was after was a remix on this album. Although it did say 'remix' on the cover, I guess I didn't see it, or I wouldn't have purchased a different album.

Oh, such a sheltered life I've led! I happened upon this artist by accident. She was featured on a mix CD I got. I listened, loved her voice, and thought I'd see what else I could find. I sure am glad I "looked her up."

Deborah Cox's voice is unbelievable--strong, powerful, full of soulfulness, and energy--you won't be able to forget it! Now you may ask if I've been living under a rock, and my reply would be, well, sorta' I guess. It seems she's been around for a while. I may have heard a snippet here and there of some of her other songs, but (as usual) they NEVER identify the artist.

This ultimate CD contains 17 tracks, so it's definitely a great buy. All tracks are good to fantastic! Some songs that stick out are "Up & Down (In & Out),"--very funky, very hot salsa; "Who Do You Love?"--very funky R & B; "It Could've Been You"--funkier still; and the tear-jerker "Same Script, Different Cast." I have also ordered "Deborah Cox Remixed," so I'm anxiously awaiting arrival of that. I have damned near worn this CD out already.

I can't really compare Ms. Cox to anyone else--her voice is her own. BUT, it is strong and very melodic. If you haven't already bought this one, you should. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just correcting previous reviewers, August 21, 2006
This review is from: Ultimate Deborah Cox (Audio CD)
First and foremost im an enormous Deborah Cox fan. Their are few voices with her crystalline and powerful vocals. However I had to intervene when I read back to back reviews that stated Deborah cox's voice is superior to that of Mrs. Whitney Houston, or as I like to call her...the greatest singer of all time. I think people are making the mistake of comparing the 2 currently. In her day Whitney was incomparable, and still even now with a diminishing voice she still surpasses most singers out there....including Deborah Cox. There is however no doubt that Mrs. Cox is a stellar singer in the category of greats such as Whitney, Mariah, Yolanda Adams, Celine, Patti, etc. But make no mistake noone is superior vocally to the ridiculously talented Whitney Houston.
