Review

Have you ever been so mad that you just wanted to get even with somebody. Well as the old saying goes, be careful what you ask for. In the Ultimate No No the only thing worse than a woman scorned is one on get back time. Tamika Newhouse has done a wonderful job of showing us just what can happen when you don't leave well enough alone. Nitrah Hill, has allowed her girls to talk her into getting into a man's heart (Troyon Washington) and then breaking it. The problem is once she gets into his heart he also gets into hers. However, this does not set well wither her girl Dahlia who has set this whole scheme in motion. Unbeknownst to Nitrah and the rest of her girls Troy the town slut has broken her heart in the worst way and instead of Dahlia being up front with her girls she tells them just what she wants them to know. While they are cooking up the scheme and Nitrah is following through she is falling in love. And, what do you know so is Troy. But, as luck would have it they all have a past that won't stay in the past. There is so much drama going on in Forthworth Texas that you may need to say a couple of Hail Mary's when you get finish. This book was definitely a summer sizzler. Five stars for Ms. Nitrah Hill who just happens to also be a very down to earth Authoress! --DC Reviever

Revenge is such a powerful word and an even more powerful action; would you hurt the man that broke your heart a few years ago if you could? When opportunity knocks some people answer and in Tamika Newhouse's debut novel The Ultimate No No the main characters answer and welcomes turmoil into their lives. The author digs deep into a world of lies, love, sex and even murder. Nitrah is a teacher that falls in love with the same man she is suppose to be hurting. Torn between love and friendship she must drop one to embrace the other. Which one will she choose? Dahlia, Nitrah's best friend places her three best friends into a bet that affects all of their lives more than they know. Out of revenge she focuses on hurting the one that ripped her of her ability to love years ago. This book was truly awesome. I enjoyed the realistic drama and the personalities of the characters. With a great gift of story telling Tamika Newhouse retold a story we see everyday, but with a twist and an ending that will blow your mind away. Many readers are anxiously waiting for the part two and I am one of them. All I can say is when all the drama hits the fan the test of friendship, love, and trust becomes evident, The Ultimate No No is a Yes Yes in my book! --Kreative Readers

Cool Read May 11, 2011
By Nikki M
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was looking for cheap books for my kindle and I came across this one. I started reading it 6pm Sunday night and read until 1:30 am, forcing myself to put it down because I had to get up for work in the next few hours. There were so many crazy twist and turns in this book and it will literaly have you screaming, "Oh hell no!" The end will upset you, but good thing there's 2 more books that follow this series. I'm currently on the second book. They say you get what you pay for, but I got so much more out of this book for only $.99.

Friends Should Not... March 15, 2009
Format:Paperback
Maintaining healthy relationships is not always an easy thing to do. But, through it all there are some things that friends will not do to each other, unless you are Nitrah trying to help Dahlia seek revenge on Troyon, the man that hurt her. Tamika Newhouse crosses the invisible line with her characters in her debut novel The Ultimate NO NO.

When Dahlia sees Troyon, she asks Nitrah to help her break his heart, like he has done to her and other women many times before. This one plan to scam Troyon opens up a well of secrets and lies among friends. Every time it seems as though it could not get any worst, another secret is revealed that will have you going "oh hell no." Lives are bound to change. Who will walk away happy and who will walk away defeated and heartbroken?

Ms. Newhouse created well-developed characters. These characters were in their early 20s and they showed/acted their age by the things they said and did. I enjoyed these characters so much so that I cannot wait to read the sequel. However, the editing and proofreading need to be polished a bit more. But if you are looking for a page-turner with lots of drama, The Ultimate NO NO will be a good book to pickup. I recommend this to anyone looking to read something entertaining.

In the Middle October 20, 2011
By NiNi
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I was excited to read this book based on the back cover. However, closer to the end I had to fight myself to complete it. I think Newhouse had a great idea with the original drama plot, but it did not play out too well. The concept that drama equals a great book is true but in actuality too much drama is sometimes a hot mess.

So with that said, lets start the review: As women, we want to avenge the hurt bestowed on us by certain bastards. However the ultimate no-no would be setting up a best friend to be the avenger, especially when not being totally honest about what the relationship once really entailed. So Nitrah falling for Troy, although wrong, is believable and even understandable. Guess Dahlia and Nitrah should have listened to Charmaine and left it alone. But hey it made for a good story.

Despite loving the plot idea, I have three main issues with how this book played out:

1. This book portrayed African Americans in a negative way when it comes to their sex lives. Joyclyn was not the only hoe spreading the love, literally, in this book. Okay, yeah everyone used condoms, great, but they all slept around as if no big deal using the excuse "we never said we would be monogamous". Charmaine is the only exception.

2. Where are the boundaries? Everyone is hooking up with someone's friend, sister or brother. Nithra's sleeping with Troy and then wanting to hook up with Michael, Dahlia sleeping's with Troy's bother and then well Joyclyn..... Boundaries should be the main point of the ultimate no-no instead of people playing with people heart. If they had boundaries there would not be all the drama.

3. My biggest pet peeve? How could everyone be upset with Dahlia for feeling and having what I consider a natural response to Nitrah and Troy's relationship. I agree that Dahlia was wrong for both planning the scam and exposing Nitrah in front of everyone, but for them to say that she was wrong for being against them is unbelievable and unrealistic! A friend sleeping with a friend's ex is nasty and wrong regardless if it was only a one night stand or more. How I see it is that Nitrah is foul and should have been called out on breaking the rules of the scam and despite her being disappointed with Denim over the Sarah and Kia thing, her and Denim are one of a kind. Also, Dahlia is just like Nitrah, is she not sleeping with Troy's brother?!!!!!

Three stars because it could of been a great book except it ended up being shallow. I hope in the sequel, she portrays the characters in a more mature light.
