The holder has a nice pouch, perfect for keys, ID, gels, etc.

I do not know if it was just a flaw in this particular unit, or if the manufacturing quality has dropped, but I don't plan on buying a third.

My husband bought this for trail runs, but I've been using it for my long runs as well.

well built and I love the idea that I can run and get a drink whenever I want with ease. One thing I will say that had me a little disappointed at first: The drinking nipple is in a close position when it came and I tried to use it like that and it just doesn't work, so make sure you pull the nipple out when you get it or you will think it's broke or doesn't work. lol

Not to big or too small ,simple one size fits all and it has the best type of valve for quick simple use.

As a recent ultramarathon convert, I was a bit perplexed to see all the experienced runners utilizing hand bottles compared to the traditional hydration packs. However after training with both I can see now why this is really the superior hydration system.

My initial hesitation in trying out the handheld system stemmed from the simple mechanics of running. You pump your arms while you run, therefore adding weight (that sloshes around) in theory should make running efficiently more difficult. Also I have a tendency to have really sore neck/shoulder muscles after my longer runs. However after a couple of longer training runs I could see that my initial hesitations would be nonissues - the handheld didn't negatively affect my running at all. Actually you could say it really helped; while running a really rocky section of the Appalachain Trail I stubbed my toe on a rock and fell forward. The handheld took the brunt of the blow and I was back on my feet with in a second - my knees didn't hit the ground and only my left palm was a little dirty.

The easily available storage pack is great for holding a couple gels, some electrolyte tables or your keys. Also I like having the visual in front of me to remind myself to keep hydrating on the longer runs.

Also I personally like Ultimate Directions nozzle, it's a squishy rubber nipple that doesn't knick your teeth up.

I would highly recommend this to any skeptics out there - the hydration pack is going back in the closet.

This waterbottle is great for running and hiking - as good or better than several others I've tried. Just be aware if you order the "Baja Blue" it's a very feminine color. Thankfully, I order these after seeing how great the black ones my wife picked worked. Now she has new ones and I'm using the black ones.

If you trail run or do other long runs without water easily accessible, this is the bottle for you! Even if you have water, it is nice to be able to sip water when you want to. My husband bought this for trail runs, but I've been using it for my long runs as well. The pouch will hold maybe 2 gels and a key, but not much more (so it isn't huge), but that's enough for me. The strap is easily adjustable. I can switch hands even while running. As far as the bottle, I honestly don't think it's hard to drink from. You do have to squeeze it, which I don't find all that hard to do while running. It takes a little getting used to because it does squirt pretty hard, but it took me a couple swigs to figure that out. The valve pulls out and pops back in with a quick hit with your hand, but you don't have to push it back down unless you really want to because it won't leak. I can run with this bottle without holding it with my hand, and though I thought having the liquid slosh around would be annoying, I got used to it pretty quickly. I HIGHLY recommend this bottle for trail running. It will stay on your hand, even if you take a fall (which we all do now and then). The bottle is easy to clean (I put mine in the dishwasher and have never had a problem). It would be nice if it was more insulated, but I can live with that. I even got one for my running partner, and she can't believe we ever ran without them!

One big question for a run is what kind of hydration system do I use? If I'm running under an hour, the answer is usually nothing, just drink before and after. For longer runs, is it hand-held, waistback, or backpack w/ a bladder? If hand-held is what you choose, this Ultimate Direction bottle holder works great. I like the spout. Under normal circumstances, you might feel like a baby drinking from a bottle. But it's a versatile little spout. You can suck it or squirt it. I didn't think I'd be able to squirt in on myself to cool off, but you can. The holder has a nice pouch, perfect for keys, ID, gels, etc. The only quibble I have is that the strap you can use to tighten it up on your hand wore out so that it didn't stay tight very well. But overall, a great product.

Having used different hand-held bottles for running, this was by far the worse. Super hard to get the water out -- just what you need when you are on mile 10 and need a drink. Would never by this brand again. Will stick with Nathan.

Bought this for my first 50K trail run. Worked great. I like that it has a wide mouth when the top in unscrewed. Made it easy to refill at the aid stations. The little zipper pocket was nice to hold some gel packs and salt pills. I don't own any other running/exercise bottles so I can't compare.
