This was an action-packed cyber mystery set 25 years into the future. After their friend must leave the United States for a totalitarian state, a group of teenage computer whizzes team together to free him from a political prison. The ending was quite sad and brought tears to my eyes. This book showed the values of friendship and the horrors of a totalitarian state while offering an exciting, action packed futuristic adventure for teens.

I myself do not enjoy reading but the book Net Force the Ultimate escape is an exiting dive into a world of realistic, believable science fiction. It doesn't take make you gag at the unrealality like others and yet it delivers the exitement you want. Its ending with a supprising different twist will deliver a blast of astonishment to you. A killer book.

This thriller written about a young boy and his family trapped in a virtual prison in the socialist country of Corteguay, takes place in the year 2025 when computers are our main source of daily activities. When Julio Cortez realizes he's being trapped in a prison by the Corteguayan government, he seeks imediate attention to his friends for help. Matt, Andy, Megan, Mark, and David are all shocked about what he has to say and plan to make every move possible to help their friend. The only way they are able to make contact with him are through simulated flight missions of past wars. Julio himself has had success in such simulations, but in Corteguay, technology is scarce as the citizens there have remained to tools from the 21st century. Almost all contact to the outside world is impossible. Julio's father, Ramon Cortez, is running for president here in Corteguay's first public election. The pressure on the family is intense as they face torture and death. This makes Julio's friends time limited.

Hey, this book isn't as bad as some people are saying. I thought it was pretty good. Yeah, some parts were a little boring...and the ending was....But, i totally recommend it to airplane/airforce fans. There was lots of detail about that stuff. I guess what I'm tryin to say is that this is a pretty good book, definitely not as bad as what some people wrote for their reviews.

The Book Net Force The Ultimate Escape, by Tom Clancy, is about a group of friends that are in a virtual aviation program called the net force. One of the friends, named Julio moved to Courteguay because his father was running for president.
During one of the aviation programs Julio appears desperately in need of help. Everyone in the program believes the appearance of Julio is nothing but a rift, but when they enter another program and see Julio in worse condition they take action. The team gets the police involved and the police contact the special forces. When the special forces officers find out that the Cortezes are in fact being held hostage, they get a team of Navy Seals on alert right away.
Julio shows up in another flight program and tells the team to tell the forces to not send anyone to get him or else he will die.

I felt that the book was ok, but it lacked a cohesive story line, because often the story jumped from one subject to another which detracted from the excitement of the main story. I thought this produced uninteresting sub-plots that took away from the details of the main story. I also felt this book did not develop the characters as well as it could have, therefore I would not recommend this book.

The most interesting character is Matt Hunter. I am fascinated that he is able to handle being a net force explorer at such a young age. Matt is only thirteen years old and all of the other explorers are around seventeen and eighteen. He has to know about hundreds of planes and jets and be able to fly several. Along with that, he has to do very well because of the high expectations of his parents. I hope this review will guide you well and help you in the future.

The Ultmate Escape is the best Tom Clancy book that I have read. It's about Julio, the son of a father who is running for president of Courteguay, a small island nation that does not accept high technology. Julio is captured and sent to a virtual prison with the rest of his family and the U.S.A. has to rescue them before the elections. Julio virtually escapes and tells some Net Force Explorer friends he meets in a flight simulator that he is in a prison. His Net Force friends think Julio is a Rift, a bug that connects the mind and the programming so you can imagine anything. The Net Force makes a plan to get them out but a million things can go wrong. It is very exciting and full of interesting technology. I would recomend reading the other Net Force books first.

I would surely agree with that reader from Indiana, I read it in 2 days too. It was simply captivating, but perhaps the reason why I found it so attractive was the fact that I'm a teen and thus able to relate to the characters in the story easily comparitive to people of older age.

However, I would think that it is an excellent book for a beginner reader and a relief from heavy novels for experienced readers.

This book was so cool I couldn't put it down. I'm definately buying more Tom Clancy's Net Force books.

If you're a true Clancy fan (The Hunt for Red October, Rainbow 6, etc.) then this is not the book for you. While still good, it lacks the intrigue, suspense, and depth we've come to know and appreciate from Clancy. This is truly a very scaled down version written for young people.

Although written for young adults, "The Ultimate Escape" packs more invention and imagination than the "adult" Net Force novels or even most cyberpunk sf books. The ghost author (whose contract doubtless forbids any disclosure of his name) does some fresh things with virtual reality, including complex air combat games and (Something I'm SURE I've never seen before) a convincing rationale for a "virtual" prison and the means of "virtually" escaping from it ­ all in the context of an exciting, fast-moving story. Let's hope other Net Force authors can do as well!
