this book was mindblowing!!!! absolutely one of the most interesting books about serial killer/murders i have ever read! Terry shows connections between many killings and killers and raises the question of satanic cults behind such massive killings as the son of sam and manson murders. terry makes you understand david berkowitz mindset and reason for behaving the way he...

1.0 out of 5 stars Fiction not fact
This has to be one of the dumbest books ever written. There is absolutely NO evidence for the existence of a "satanic network" involved in ritualistic or other killings. To claim that the acts of seriously disturbed individuals, such as Berkowitz and Manson, were actually murder-for-hire and connected to the immoral behavior of the victims is an insult to the victims. The...

this book was mindblowing!!!! absolutely one of the most interesting books about serial killer/murders i have ever read! Terry shows connections between many killings and killers and raises the question of satanic cults behind such massive killings as the son of sam and manson murders. terry makes you understand david berkowitz mindset and reason for behaving the way he did. he by no means tries to excuse his murders (and neither does david) but merely explains with convincing evidence that there is no way david acted alone. READ THIS it will make you question a lot of murders and their alternative motives

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best True Crime Books I've ever read, February 19, 2005
This review is from: The Ultimate Evil: An Investigation into America's Most Dangerous Satanic Cult (Hardcover)
I feel the best thing you can say to an authur of a true crime book(or any book) is that you couldn't put it down.

Unbelieveable, meticulous reaserch.

You will read this book late into the night and you will bring it to work the next day and read it when you boss isn't looking.

There's only one problem with a book as good as this....it has to end.

Bravo..Maury Terry!

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Story That Has No Equal", April 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Evil: An Investigation into America's Most Dangerous Satanic Cult (Hardcover)
Years ago when the first edition of "The Ultimate Evil" came out, most people found it a journalist flight of creative fancy on a most nortorious crime spree dealing with Manson, Berkowitz and Satanic Cult Group connections. Today... more and more "The Ultimate Evil" seems to go deep within the fiber of America's Psyche and shows just how real it is. I think Mr. Terry was right on the mark from the beginning as well as the dedicated people still out there gathering the truth of just how widespread this may extend. I would give this book an extra "*" star for good measure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Evil digs deep, February 14, 2012

This review is from: The Ultimate Evil: An Investigation into America's Most Dangerous Satanic Cult (Hardcover)
The "Ultimate Evil" digs deep and lives up to its name. Terry investigates the "Son of Sam" murders on a level rarely seen today. Terry follows leads that take him across the country and back and expose connections to the assination arm of a well organized crime network as opposed to a "lone nut". Some of the conclusions reached may be difficult to believe but, now that we have the internet, you can check out everything as you read. My only complaint is that there is no subject index. There is so much information, such as names and events, that trying to look for it again in the book is mind bending.

Overall, good investigative reporting on a dark subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth is more scary than fiction!, June 13, 2011
By
Mr. Stephen Reid (Liverpool, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Ultimate Evil: An Investigation into America's Most Dangerous Satanic Cult (Hardcover)
The appearance of this book (thick-as-a-brick paperback format, snarling attack dog on the cover, and perhaps even the title) might make the prospective reader think they are buying a scary fictional chiller in the mode of Stephen King or Dean Koontz. However with the greatest of respect to these two gentlemen, this book is even more frightening than anything they could conjure up from their dark and fertile imaginations. Maury Terry maintains - with much compelling evidence - that this book is all true. If this is indeed the case then forget fictional nightmares - the real stuff starts here.

This is a gripping and at times disturbing read - the image of shadowy Satanic hitmen slipping unassailed through various levels of American culture/subculture is particularly unsettling. The opening chapter detailing the horrific murder of newly-wed Christian evangelist Arlis Perry is truly bone-chilling. On a more prosaic level the case for there being more than one "Son of Sam" killer is expanded upon as if it were courtroom evidence presented by an expert witness. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best research ever done on this subject., December 19, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Evil: An Investigation into America's Most Dangerous Satanic Cult (Hardcover)
This book attempts to pull together many loose ends never previously considered to be inter-related and now that David Berkwitz is coming out publically with facts he only revealed to Maury Terry in private sessions, gives this book more crediblity. Also, most of the detectives agreed with the author about the cases he was weaving together in a complex network of crime and satanism. This is a must have book for any true crime reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrifying and true., March 18, 1998

This review is from: The Ultimate Evil: An Investigation into America's Most Dangerous Satanic Cult (Hardcover)
Compelling and chilling investigation into one of the nation's most notorious crime waves. Maury Terry's research is solid and convincing, and the interviews, letters, and in-depth analysis of different crimes are fascinating. Definitely recommended for those who enjoy serious true crime literature.
