This box is the cd version of every Jimi Hendrix Experience album legitimately released while he was alive, altered only enough to include singles from the same period. That's why there's some redundancy. Perhaps they could've added some tracks to each of the first three cds, and not needed the fourth, (with it's repeated tunes), but this format is preferable to me. Yes it's expensive, but it can be found used at lower prices , and the added written material,(a fairly thick booklet in each of the four cds), is excellent.I was looking for 'Electric Ladyland' on cd, but now will sell '..Experienced' and 'Axis' instead. Obviously the music speaks for itself.

I bought this boxed set used, like most of my other cd's. This set features the cds, Axis Bold as Love, Are You Experienced, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and a Greatest Hits album. Without a doubt, these 3 cds are among the best cds of ALL TIME!! Although, like an earlier reviewer said, you can buy all these albums cheaper if you buy them seperate. BUT, you do get a snazzy looking box to hold your Hendrix collection in. If you are a Hendrix fan, i also recommend looking into the Hendrix rarities set that was put out last year (2000). It has a bunch of great songs on it also!

I purchased this set when it first came out and it is the one box set that I can listen to over and over. Hendrix IS the best rock guitarist, in my humble opinion. This set contains all three of his studio albums that were released prior to his untimely death. But, the big bonus is the fact that they are the British releases of his albums. That means :Are You Experienced" has such gems as "Redhouse" "Stone Free" and others that were left off the American releases of the album. Each disc also contains a nice booklet and the fourth dis, which is a best of, does a better summation of what Jimi was all about than does the album "Smash Hits". I know that it says the set is not available, but if you ever see it, grab it. It will truely show you why Jimi is still considered a big influence among true guitarist.

I STILL HAVE THIS BOX SET SINCE 1993. IF YOU CAND FIND IT I SUGGEST YOU GET IT. IT'S TOO BAD THAT IT IS OUT OF PRINT.

This box is actually the three Jimi Hendrix Experience studio albums plus one greatest hits complilation. It has "Are You Experienced", "Axis Bold as Love" and "Electric Ladyland", plus the greatest hits cd "Ultimate Experience". IMHO, the fourth cd is redundant if you have the other three disks.

I absolutely love Jimi but this box set is not the best. My point is you can buy "Are You Experienced?","Axis: Bold As Love","Electric Ladyland" and "The Ultimate Experience" for a cheaper price than this box set. It's just not worth it. Great songs, though.

this is a Must No Questions Asked.Jimi Hendrix's Music still Holds Up Stronger than most of the Stuff that's out now.Why? because alot of People are just coming into what he did 30 years back.The Sounds,Arrangements,Instrumentation,Production Feeling&Depth speak Volumes.His Lyrics&Tone are very Deep.you also get so many Musical Styles.The Music World isn't the same without Him.He is still a Giant.What A Great Genius of Music&Sound.

I haven't actually listened to all of the C.D.'s in this box set but I have heard most of the songs on them. I think that this is the best collection of Jimi Henrix songs ever. I own the Ultimate Experience it is an excellent C.D. but I believe that some of his greatest song are not on it. I think that this set includes all of them. It is a one of a kind collection that I think every Jimi Hendrix fan should have.
