I love the concept, but am having difficulty understanding how to perform the exercises correctly based on her instructions, which are rather vague and confusing. For example, "smile with the middle of the upper lip" or "squeeze the corner of your mouth as if sucking on two small lemons" or "visualize the sides of your face moving up along the sides of your head" - what in the world does that mean? Only one or two photos are provided for each exercise. Perhaps the DVD would be better.

I wish I could tell every woman who is concerned with the aging of her face (and maybe thinking about doing something risky, expensive and unnatural) about the "miracle" of Facercise. I have used Ms. Maggio's original program, Facercise, for years and am delighted with the results. Now I do the original program in the morning and Ultimate Facercise in the evening. Of course, there is a learning curve, but once you master the simple exercises, it takes just a short, relaxing while to do them each a.m and p.m. I had a private session with Ms. Maggio (we are the same age) and I can assure you her photos are not doctored.

Having recently turned 60 and suddenly going from looking 20 years younger to close to my age (no, I do not do HRT for both moral and health reasons), I found myself growing a bit desperate and wondering if I might have to resort to "going under the knife", a procedure that I have NEVER wanted to do and hope that I never do for a variety of reasons, one of which is the unnaturalness, both of doing it and how obvious those procedures are on a person, be it surgery, botox (put a diluted version of one of the most venomous poisons that exist into my system???? NOT!!), saline, what will you. I have no problem with becoming older - hey, guys, even stars/planets live and die! I just want to age more gracefully and slowly. So...I started doing research on Amazon, and after much comparison and consideration of contents and reviews, decided to give Carole Maggio's system a try, purchasing both her Ultimate Facercise dvd set and her books (yes, both - I wanted to compare, plus, I'm a bibliophile). In all sincerity, I can give you my word that her books live on my bedside table and her dvd by my player. THEY WORK. End of story. BUT in this day of "time pressure", instant gratification, too much "boredom" because nothing keeps people's attention because they are not WILLING to GIVE IT TIME, you HAVE to be diligent and disciplined about this!! TWICE A DAY, approximately 15 minutes each time, for a couple of weeks, and then you can HALVE the time by going to her 8-minute sessions! Within THREE DAYS of doing the 16-minute routine TWICE a day, I saw differences, literally from my forehead down to my neck and everywhere in between. After trying expensive creams, laser treatments, fillers, and microdermabrasion, I found this book after seeing The Doctor Oz Show. His recommendation was the best reason for me to try the book. I did all the exercises twice a day as recommended, and to my astonishment my lips became more plump and sexy, my nasal labial folds smoothed, and my nose actually became more narrow and shorter. There are tips in the book to actually smooth scaring and lumps from fillers. I did have some scaring and the techniques work. I have since purchased the DVD and will rely on these exercises in order to keep my more youthful appearance.

I got this book in December after a visit to a surgeon at the Moran Eye Institute. I'm still awaiting whether or not insurance will cover the surgery, but I think I will forgo having it, thanks to this book. Long story short, I was in a accident 20 years ago and had 5 surgeries to repair the left side of my face. Twenty years of gravity has made one eye much larger than the other, and the left side looks like it's melting off, as there are fewer nerves to help keep the muscles toned there. I just want to be symmetrical and look like me- the "right" me. I would like to avoid surgery, because you might not look like yourself afterward, and it only lasts several years.

The Facercise program works. Just like the body needs toning, so does the face. I noticed results after a couple of days- the first thing I noticed was that the sockets under my eyes filled out. The other thing I noticed right off was the muscles in my nose really developed quickly. I like having a muscular nose. :) I got the DVD and loaded it on my iPhone. I only do the exercises once a day, and you're supposed to do them twice, but I'm really happy with the results I'm getting. My eyes are not the same size yet, but I don't notice the difference unless I look closely. I still have a slight jowel on the left side, but my right side looks five years younger than it did two months ago. My neck is totally toned, my eyes are larger and brighter, my cheeks are developing, etc. I look more awake and alive. When I don't do the program for a couple of days, I can see it in my face. I highly recommend this book, or just get the DVD and follow it daily. You'll like the results
