Each chapter begins with a "grocery list" of food storage items to buy. Next, it tells how to store those items. Then it has an index of recipes you can make if all you had were those suggested items. The next chapter adds some more groceries to buy, how to store them and another index of recipes you can make from the groceries in both the first and second chapter. Each succeeding chapter follows the same format through the sixth chapter.
