5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Glitter's All-Time Greatest Hit's
They call this album the ultimate. Indeed, it is the best single collection of Gary Glitters music ever put out. Spanning two discs, it traces 25 years of music (1972 to 1997), during which time Gary Glitter was among the biggest stars, having a world wide profile of hit singles and sell out tours.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gary Glitter - the anti-Elvis
Glitter is more famous for his sex crimes (the latest in Vietnam) than for his pathetic music. An Elvis-imitator updated for the so-called glam rock scene is all he was, and the lyrics of his songs are pathetic.

Glitter, in fairness, can do some good songs like an okay version of Elvis' early hit "Baby let's play house", but - that's just what he is, an Elvis...

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Glitter's All-Time Greatest Hit's, February 7, 2006

They call this album the ultimate. Indeed, it is the best single collection of Gary Glitters music ever put out. Spanning two discs, it traces 25 years of music (1972 to 1997), during which time Gary Glitter was among the biggest stars, having a world wide profile of hit singles and sell out tours.

His biggest hits included "Rock N Roll", "Leader Of The Gang", "Do You Wanna Touch Me", "I Love You Love Me Love", "Always Yours" and so on... these songs helped to define an era of Rock. As the 1970s drew to a close, Glitter had also recorded Country, Disco and Ballads and while his songs charted, he was no longer able to reach number 1, "Oh Yes, You're Beautiful" had given him an additional Number 2 success and the classic disco/rock number "Little Boogie Woogie" had also charted (Shakin' Stevens would later cover this, bringing it back into the top 40 in the 1980s), but Glitter was facing bankruptcy (he had made - and spent- over 5 million pounds by 1979).

He went on to a career as a stage actor in the rock horror show, but was soon making new hit's, with "Then She Kissed Me", in 1981, followed by "Dance Me Up" in 1985, and Christmas of that year saw "Another Rock And Roll Christmas" go top 10, and it remains one of the top 30 Christmas song hits of all-time in the United Kingdom.

Later success included the single "Through The Years", it's parent album, his own restaurant in London, Many TV and Radio appearances, including hosting an episode of Top Of The Pops, other artists covering his material (such as Joan Jett, Oasis and Generation X), More success as a stage actor, and the song "Rock Hard Men" (included here).

Also on this album is are songs such as "When I'm On I'm On", "Sidewalk Sinner" and "Oh what a fool I have been", which were not hit singles but either popular album cuts, or non-charters that found popularity among fans after their initial releases.

If you are a fan of great Rock music, then you should enjoy this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Ultimate Gary Glitter, May 26, 2004

This is a must for anyone who has a slight interest in glam rock. The unique glitter sound is present on all the 32 songs in this double CD. There's also all the classic Gary Glitter hits featured on this Double CD, which include: Rock and roll
(part 2), I'm the leader of the gang (i am), Hello Hello I'm back again, I love you love me love, Do you wanna touch me
(oh yeah), I didn't know I loved you (till i saw you rock and roll), Another rock and roll christmas and Always yours.

There's also some of the great hits by the Glitter band on this album too, which include: Lets get together again, Just for you and Angel face.

Overall a superbly good bundle of songs, all holding their own
good-vibe-glitter drum beats, infectious lyrics and fun loving Gary Glitter energy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Man who is Gary Glitter!, June 4, 2006
This review is from: Ultimate (Audio CD)
Sure he's looked at some dirty pics on the net, but does that stop his music becoming bad. no. hell no. To be blunt, he is the best glam star in the world and deserves all the praise from the music moguls. look at Pete Townsend, he got off scott free.

Leader of the gang, he is the man!!!!!

Glitter, in fairness, can do some good songs like an okay version of Elvis' early hit "Baby let's play house", but - that's just what he is, an Elvis imitator who is okay to see on a seaside holiday, but not to buy. As for his own songs, they suck. Maybe his sex crime activities in the UK and Vietnam have biased me, and I think that nobody should support (inclusive of buying his CDs) or have sympathy for this man.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother, November 18, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate (Audio CD)
This guy is a convicted paedophile and is currently wanted for questioning about co-habitating with a 15-year-old girl in Vietnam. Now I haven't heard his music, I don't recognize the songs, but considering how sick and twisted this guy is, I would strongly recommend you avoid buying his albums!
