Shout! Factory commemorates Grammy's 50th anniversary with this historic collection of R&B classics from 1967 to 1985. Even if you disagree with past winners, every song on the "Ultimate" CD is worthy of the honor. Opening with Aretha Franklin's landmark anthem "Respect" and concluding with the Commodores' poignant "Nightshift," this 62-minute disc offers a wide array of soul stylings. Among the treasures: Sam & Dave's "Soul Man," Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine," Billy Paul's "Me and Mrs. Jones," the Emotions' "Best of My Love" and Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing." Great music and great memories.

In addition to the usual Aretha, Temptations and Marvin, etc., this collection also includes classics like Sam amd Dave and Otis Redding and less easy to find selections from Bill Withers and Billy Paul. Great party album!

When it comes to the Grammys, everybody that is picked to be winners are usually the cream of the crop in most people's eyes. These very same recording artists seem to have that special something that tends to captures the hearts of listeners. On the Ultimate Grammy Collection: Classic R&B, music lovers are treated to 16 top-notch soul songs that were good enough to get Grammys.
