5.0 out of 5 stars A great beginner guide and more!
In 144 pages Ms. Taormino covers this subject completely in a very matter of fact and enthusiastic point of view. If you have never tried this kind of eroticism this is a great book to get. 3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for what it is.
Honestly, there's nothing really wrong with this book, it just seems a little on the thin side. It's like the Cliff Notes version of Jack Morin's book (which I highly recommend). Oh, I suppose I should explain: I bought this for my wife so that she might get more comfortable with anal sex. After I bought this, I bought Morin's book, and that's when the real fun began...

In 144 pages Ms. Taormino covers this subject completely in a very matter of fact and enthusiastic point of view. If you have never tried this kind of eroticism this is a great book to get. One of the reasons I liked this book was it was written by an enthusiast of anal eroticism and everything in the book she has a behind the scenes perspective that is very refreshing. Also, Ms. Taomino writes so casually, like a girlfriend giving you inside need to know information.

The book is organized and concise from the Introduction to the Resource Guide in the back. No matter what your experience is with anal eroticism you can learn from this book. Each chapter gives you more insight and understanding on this taboo experience. I enjoyed the whole book.

The Author does a great job dispelling the myths associated with this practice and delivering important information for making this experience pleasurable for the novice and experienced. There are 12 chapters excluding the introduction and the resource guide the book covers myths, anatomy, emotional and psychological aspects, tools of the trade, hygiene, heath aspects to the practice, and some of the funniest illustrations I've ever seen in a sex book.

If you want to learn more about this practice this is a great book to get, it delivers the information in a relaxed, humorous, and matter a fact way. The book is a great guide for women and men wanting to expand their repertoire in the bedroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and complete, both sexy and informative., February 8, 1999
By A Customer
My search began with a quest for information as to how to pursue the subject of anal sex safely and with enjoyment. Although my spirit was willing, my flesh was weak upon first experimentation. After reading Taormino's manual, I have a new comfort level, both physically and mentally. Now I know that I was attempting too much, too soon. I learned that, physiologically, the process must be very gradual in order to be accomplished successfully. Every question I had was completely covered, and I now proceed with confidence. Worth far more than it's price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its like asking a friend for advice...., August 6, 2000

This is a very pleasant book for a very tricky subject. I really enjoyed it. I read it within a few hours. Actually it didnt feel like reading but more like chating with a close friend while having coffee. The author really has the ability to write in a friendly way, giving advices on the topic like a good friend would.

The book treats the subject in a very distinct way. Its humorous at times and on the same time it treats the subject in a scientific kind of way. For example the book has nice graphs of the human anatomy that explain lots of things.... It also has information about all the :gadjets: that someone may need for this kind of sex, like lubricants etc. At the end there is also a very helpful appendix with webpages of shops on the internet that can provide all the rellevant stuff.

The book is fun and I really recommend it to people that are interested on the subject but are embarased to talk about it. And as I said before, reading the book is like asking a friend. I think that both parties that will be involved in the act should read the book for better results. Have fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've read this book (more than some reviewers could say!), November 23, 2002
By A Customer
I first bought this book three years ago after meeting Tristan Taormino at an educational workshop. I was amazed at the enthusiam, research, and dedication she has devoted towards making anal sex a safe, pleasurable, and fun experience for all people.

Taormino also has an amazing writing style. It kept the topic light and understandable - even in the thickest of chapters.
The book was a quick read - I picked up endless facts, learned more than I could of imagined about the internal workings of the butt, and most of all - I was able to get honest safe advice about enjoying anal sex from someone with actual experience in that area.

At least with Tristan Taormino - she won't recommend anything that she has personnally tried herself. How can you top that? (for the record, several big name sex-advice authors can't even claim that!)

....

If you have yet to buy this book - I open-heartedly recommend it. It is definately a beginners book. It covers all the basics from myths, anatomy, communication, trust, toys, anal health, positions, lube, common fears, to pleasure and more!
Best of all Taormino includes a lengthly resource guide at the end of the book that pretty much covers everything! (the book would probably be worth buying just to get a look at that!) So if you still want more info - she helps you get it!

All in all - don't pass this one up. If you've ever thought about butt play (if you know someone who should be thinking about it...) Give this a read!

two thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice "Intro Guide", November 4, 2000
By

(REAL NAME)
It's probably unusual that a male would write a review of this book, given that its audience is women. My thought is that since I am sexual with women only, any book that gives me new information about "playing sexually" with women will be of value to me. And too, the idea of anal sex turns some people off. Some will say "ewww..it's perverted!" To paraphrase Woody Allen, "Only if you do it right!"

There are currently very few (if any) books on the market about this "taboo" subject, which makes it all the more important to read. Besides which, there is information here that applies to both genders. While obviously some of the material is strictly for women (doh!), any male readers can skip the non-applicable parts and concentrate on other chapters, like "10 Myths About Anal Sex," "Tools of the Trade (ie lube and anal toys)," or chapters on anal anatomy, anal penetration, and anal health, which are ALL important topics for either gender.

Three cheers to Tristan for writing an informative book about a topic those of us into may have known little about but should know much more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book!, January 18, 2003
This book has opened up new doors and I love it! I'm 24 and wasn't too interested in anal sex, although my boyfriend was interested. He's a gentleman and never tried to push me or anything. I got this book on my own. It explains and instructs in a very understandable and down to earth way. After reading the book I experimented a little and then one evening I just told my boyfriend I wanted to. It was very enjoyable (even my first time). He really enjoyed it too. It opens up an entire new realm for us to enjoy. I think if I hadn't read the book and therefore hadn't prepared properly it would not be as good. (There are lots of good instructions in the book that really help.) I would give it 5 stars but some of the stuff toward the end of the book is too much for me. (instructions on analingus, etc.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for those experimenting in various sexual pleasures, August 28, 2003
By A Customer
As a married Christian woman I purchased this book in hope of finding ways to spice up lovemaking with my husband.

I found the book to be a bit harsh as the it seemed to be quite liberal on same sex relationships.

I did find the book quite educational. It explains many techiques and positions for experiencing anal pleasure.
Along with great information of safety and cleanliness.

After reading the book I surprised my husband with rimming.
Something that we had never tried. He absolutely enjoyed this new form of stimulation. I was surprised how aroused I became seeing his pleasure.

This book is very informative on giving and receiving anal sex.
Definately not a book for those faint of heart as it is quite detailed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh No...Not Again !, October 18, 2002
By
Hannah Brownlove (Leicester, England) - See all my reviews
My (ex) husband had been very clumsy when trying anal sex and when my new husband brought the topic up ...I thought "oh no..not again". I am so in love with him though, I thought I'd do it properly and bought this book. Well I am very glad I did ! At first I thought it read like a Biology textbook but once I read on, I realised why the author explained so much about the physiology of the anus as you have to be careful with this sensitive part of the body. Armed with the basics of what to do and what not to do, I quickly got on to the pleasurale bits and read it right through to the end...somewhat fascinated ! To cut a long story short, I took control in bed and thoroughly enjoyed teaching my man all of Tristan's tips for pure anal pleasure ! I may even send a copy to my ex for Christmas !!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Geared toward women but lots of general advice, August 19, 2004
By

(VINE VOICE)
When this book was written the options for learning about anal sex were very very few, in fact really only "Anal Helath and Pleasure" by Morin was available to the average person. Now there are several options. This one is geared toward women and yet I don't that enough time is spent on women's isssues compared to men in the book. Most of the information can be found in other sources. Franky I think the book needs more specific information and stories about and from women to justify the title. However, if you are a woman or have a female partner who is worried that guides are anal sex are really for gay men, this could be a good way to get to read up on the subject. Taormino's enthusiasm for anal sex is clear from the beginning of the book but she is sensitive to the negetive images and fears about anal sex. That makes it a safer feeling read for some women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Explore This Taboo Subject, It's Too Good To Ignore., August 19, 2000
By
I am a lesbian, when my partner bought this, I thought it was a sick joke. But she introduced the topics and methods in this book slowly and lovingly to our love making. It is now an integral part of our expression of appreation of one another.

How could this book be of value to a lesbian couple? A strap on, some k-y jelly, and some love are an amazing combination. Let your mind and body be set free.

Lesbian, straight, doesn't matter. Get this book and open up a new door, a back door. The most important thing is a partner that cares about your well being, and is not just doing it for themselves.
