This book has a great amount of types of crown molding and good pictures of many configurations but falls short in detailed information on how to install. for someone who has not much experience with a miter saw it could be confusing. there are other book that show how to cut and hang the molding, wome using a jig to make it easier. there are moethods of cutting inside and outside corners and how to cope inside corners that are not as clear in this book. However for the more experienced carpenter it is a good book and is better if you have some experience. I would recommend other books to an inexperienced DIYer who is just starting out on this subject. For the more experienced person this is a good book.

This is one of the best crown molding books that I have read. Where it really shines is showing numerous combinations of building up crown molding. Other books my do a better job in explaining all the ins-and-outs of hanging it (i.e. Crown Molding and Trim), but showing different configurations (and showing how they are done) sets this book apart. It sort of walks you through the process. Highly recommended!

The first 4 chapters of this book go over history of crown and cornice molding, tools you will need with a brief description, measuring, marking and material to use (wood, MDF and bendable material). The author goes into great detail about the various molding profiles, combining different molding to get custom-looking molding, and the all important, cutting inside and outside angles. There are several projects, divided into 1-piece up to 6-piece projects. Of course, the 5-6 piece projects are the more custom and multi-layered moldings.

What I like about this book is that it not only covers crown molding, but fireplaces, frieze, medallions, baseboards and indirect lighting coves. This book seems to cover everything you want to know about crown molding. It also helps that the photographs are clear, crisp and show the details of various cuts, molding and finished product.

This book outlines projects for the novice all the way to an experienced craftsman. I particularly like the step by step instructions and the ability to be successful with my project. Lots of insight in how to use the miter saw.

Lot of pictures and ideas. Good investment for DIYer to see options, how to and maybe what to leave to the experts!

An abundance of information, more than you will ever use. The corner angle tables were fantastic and I often refer to them for quick calculations on cutting crown molding corners. Clear and concise explanations of how to cut the tricky stuff, like the incredibly confusing vaulted ceiling corners. If you are going to take on a crown molding project, don't do it without this book and a good miter saw. Otherwise just order the pre-cut foam crown molding.

Ok, so I am a new home improvement addict who has tons of dreams followed by tons of intimidation. For months, I have been flirting with the idea of installing crown molding. I have bought the equipment, spent hours at Home Depot talking with their awesome associates who are always so helpful and willing to explain what you need and why, and have even bought some of the materials I need. But I was paralyzed at the thought of getting started. Until very recently, I had never really done anything like this type of work and always thought of home improvement projects as things that I would either hire someone to do, or get used to the idea that it just wasn't going to happen.

So, I did the next best thing. I came to Amazon and started doing research on books that might teach me how to get started on this project, from telling me all the tools I need to how to use them, as well as showing how to plan for and get the project done. This book was one of 3 with related topics, but this one was the only book exclusively about crown molding. And I could not be happier!

This book explains in an easy to understand language all the steps I need to take. In a very non-intimidating and interesting way, it has got me very excited and comfortable with the idea of starting the actual work on the project as I read through it. The contents aren't boring or confusing. From details about the subject to the hands-on support we need to get started on something new, this book and its author make me feel like I have a teacher there with me, someone who really knows what he's doing and enjoys teaching his craft to others.

I'll be starting the actual work in a couple of days and have a positive feeling that I will be able to accomplish the task well and by myself.

If you want to see the trim work pictures just google it so you don't have to spend your money for couple pictures.

This book is written by someone who actually did the things they talk about. There are numerous examples of different crown configurations and many helpful tips on installing it in a professional way.
