Knowing nothing to something,
This review is from: The Ultimate Guide to Freshwater Fishing (Hardcover)
I live in NH and just started freshwater fishing for the first time. I went from knowing nothing to gaining some great info on what gear to buy (and not to buy), cold water vs warm water fishing, fish species and lake conditions. There were several helpful pages for techniques for fishing either on a boat or from the shore.
The only down side that was not covered (thus 4 stars instead of 5). Was fish cleaning and keeping, and how to do proper catch and release on different species. Good book overall that covers a rather large amount of ground.

This is a great reference book, especially for beginners. Contains tips that experienced anglers will find very useful. Though no one book will have all the answers one seeks, this one helped with a good chunk of mine. A must have and a steal for the price.

This book is very informative on almost all freshwater fish species. There isn't to great of detail on each species, but its enough to get you started. I looked into this book for bluegill, trout, bass, and pike fishing tactics. The book gave me somewhere to start but still left me needing to know some more. Its not bad to get the necessary background info.
