While this book is well organised and well written it is, unfortunately, out of date. Many of the aspects Ted discusses (for example Questions and Answers) are no longer available on LinkedIn. I would recommend buying a book that reflects the current features of LinkedIn, one that is more recent than the Ultimate Guide.

Ted has written a fantastic guide to making the most of LinkedIn's service offering. Definitely a must-read if you want to know how to make the most of LinkedIn. I was mistakenly treating LinkedIn like an online resume or a place to add discussions to our company group page. How wrong was I! There's so many more opportunities to network, make new connections and even find business. At the end of each chapter, I put the book down, logged onto LinkedIn and started following the recommendations for that chapter. I've updated my profile, started connecting with a few people, am answering questions in the Answers section and am really using this tool for what it is - a great place to find new professional connections.

You might not think of LinkedIn as a place to market your business, but there is more there than meets the eye if you have only used LinkedIn to post your own profile or to search for talent.

The book is a great combination of a beginner's guide with some terrific insider-expert tips. LinkedIn is a great way to connect to potential customers and if you aren't using it yet it is well worth investigating.

This Ultimate Guide is truly a state of the art deep-dive into all-things LinkedIn with a focus on the business perspective.

Well organized and clearly written, this is the best LinkedIn book I have seen to date. The author knows his stuff and communicates it well. Highly recommended.

Ted takes away the mystery and sense of being overwhelmed and teaches you how to master LinkedIn. I have been using LinkedIn for a while; however Ted showed me areas that I did not even know existed like the Answer section and how to use that tool to demonstrate your expertise! The optimization tips are great - You will see yourself on the first page - at least I did! Thank you Ted for a wonderful book!

Full disclosure: I met Ted just once at a Scottsdale, AZ hotel in October of 2012 where we had both arrived late in the evening for the next day's event. While we were waiting for our dinner to be delivered, we struck up a conversation that eventually turned to social media. I gave my little rant about Facebook and having a a family friend's comment about their "dog throwing up on the couch" appear in the middle of my business posts. And LinkedIn. "I've had a LinkedIn account for two years. I don't know what I am supposed to do with it. I don't even bother logging in to it because it doesn't do anything."

Ted gave me that big smile you see in his promo picture. "LinkedIn does work. I bet you didn't complete setting up your profile," he smiled. "I think I can help you with that." Then he told me he had just written a book for Entrepreneur magazine that explained how to set up LinkedIn and use it professionally. After a long and interesting conversation (and dinner) I promised I would give his book a try. When I got back to the east coast I opened the book and followed the first few chapters, actually 31 pages, to set up my profile, Ted's way. Ted was right. I did not have my profile set up properly.

One of the things I like about the book is that Ted tells you what you should do AND he also tells you what you shouldn't do and why. For example, don't use the canned LinkedIn invitation message. It is too impersonal. Instead write your own short personal message. I found that gets almost instant results. Don't buy the premium account unless you have a defined need for it. You can do almost everything you need to with the basic account. Don't automatically import all your contacts. You want to screen who you admit to your LinkedIn account.

Good introductory guide to Linked In as it can be used for business. If you are at all intimidated by Linked In, this book will lay it all out for you and make it easy to get started and even dive in deep if you want to. Well written, conversational, informative.
