About the Author

John Little is known and respected in martial arts and film circles as the world's foremost authority on the life and philosophy of Bruce Lee. He is the author of The Warrior Within, which offered the first formal presentation of Lee's philosophy. In 1998, Little produced, directed, and wrote the score for "Bruce Lee: In His Own Words," which won the prestigious Toronto World-Wide Short Film Festival award for Best Documentary. Little's shooting script for this film resides in the Margaret Herrick Library in Beverly Hills, California, a branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Curtis Wong is the publisher of Action Pursuit Games, Inside Kung-Fu, and other leading magazines on the martial arts and related fields.

More About the Author

John Little is uniquely suited to the task of relating the philosophy of Bruce Lee and his approach to life. Little has a degree in philosophy from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, is the author of two books on health and fitness (having spent over fifteen years as a writer for several fitness magazines), and is himself a student of Lee's art of jeet kune do.

Selected by the Bruce Lee estate, Little is the only person who has ever been authorized to review the entirety of Lee's personal notes, sketches, and reading annotations and to edit books on the subject of Lee's martial art and its far-reaching philosophical underpinnings. Little's keen awareness of the subtleties of both Eastern and Western philosophy coupled with a respect for the preservation of the essence of Lee's words and meaning give this book an integrity that is all too rare.

2.0 out of 5 stars Its an okay read but hardly ultimate...., June 14, 2001

This review is from: Ultimate Guide To Paintball (Paperback)
When you hear the word ULTIMATE GUIDE you expect to be pretty comprehensive. This book would have better been titled the GENERAL GUIDE.... I'm pretty new to paintball and even I didn't find too much to learn from this book.

A perfect example is how it handles equipment. For an ULTIMATE guide you would expect it to talk about upgrades to markers. It should list the common upgrades and give a WHAT (what is the upgrade and a description), WHO (who should really look at this upgrade), PROS (what is good about getting this type of upgrade), and CONS (why you might not like this upgrade). This book instead spends alot of time talking about "my first tournament" and "paintball is one of the fastest growing sports..."

Don't get me wrong. There are good things about this book as well. I liked the advanced formations chapter and beginner advice (don't brandish your paintball marker in public.....it may sound obvious but there is always that one idiot). As an ULTIMATE guide, however, it is lacking.

You may want to check out the Complete Guide to Paintball. I haven't looked at it myself but at least the pictures are in color.Supposedly it has a listing of fields as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Paintball Field Guide (for newbies), April 21, 2002

Dont get me wrong, this isnt a bad guide to paintball. It covers all the basics very well and has specific sections for both recball and tourney players. However if you have a few years worth of experiance under your belt chances are you already know everything that this book has to offer.

For Newbies- 5 stars
For seasoned ballers- 3 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Starters, March 30, 2004

This review is from: Ultimate Guide To Paintball (Paperback)
This is an excellent starter guide. It lets experts guide the beginner through a great way to get started. More advanced players may be bored with the slower pace, but beginners will enjoy it and welcome some of the repetition. The title "Ultimate" does not mean "Complete". For that, I would get the "Complete Guide to Paintball" (2nd edition). Or, do what I did and get both.
