Finally-- a simple and realistic path to follow, September 10, 2001

I think one of the biggest challenges of being a homeschooler is that the world can quickly rest on your shoulders. As a mom and a homeschooler, you have to manage all the day-to-day demands of running a househould coupled with being solely responsible for children's education... (which often means teaching a zillion subjects!) It's easy to spend so much "getting ready" and "getting set up" or "doing house tasks" that there is little time left for schooling. Knowing that you can give your children a better education than public school and then finding a plan you can implement are two different things. This book laid out a very clear path and course. Not only does it show how to manage teaching all sorts of subjects (along with ideas of how to teach and where to find free curiculum) but it also helps manage the day to day household tasks and organizing. It creates a budget for homeschooling, a simple way to access progress so you won't have to wonder... "I am doing this right?" It provides templates for book reports, science experiments and more. No matter what question I had or where I needed guidance, this planner offered it. Best of all, all the pages are designed to be photocopied. That way you don't have to buy a new planner each year. Instead, you can simply make additional copies. I think a planner like this was long overdue. I think every homeschooler will find benefit in this binder.

Not very useful in for our family..., July 29, 2002

I ordered this homeschool planner based on the high rating here on amazon.com. I was very disappointed when the product arrived. Out of the many, many pages, I found very little that was useful to my homeschooling family. Much of it seemed to just be filler. While others may find the particular pages useful, I did not.

A top-notch tool no homeschooler should be without!, May 16, 2002
This review is from: The Ultimate Homeschool Plan Book: Your Perfect Planner (Unbound) (Loose Leaf)
As a new homeschooler who thrives on organization, I was thrilled with THE ULTIMATE HOMESCHOOL PLANNER! Not only is it full of easy to use forms and checklists, but it is a great way to begin and maintain your homeschooling journey.
More than a colorful binder to organize important paperwork, The Ultimate Homeschool Planner is just that-- a way to PLAN your strategy for success. Although other planners have forms for attendance and curriculum, this planner helps you KNOW what you need from the very beginning.
The planner includes a Quick Start Guide, which is great for those who can't read a book cover to cover until they can sit down uninterrupted. So really there is no longer a valid excuse for being a disorganized homeschool teacher!
Sections include: Getting Started, Curriculum Planning, Logging Your Learning, Templates & Units, and Home Management. Since I have only been homeschooling less than six months, I found the Getting Started section invaluable, and spent a lot of time assessing my son's learning level. Currently I am in the process of researching curriculum for the upcoming schoolyear, so the timing was perfect. This way I could be sure I purchased the perfect materials for my son, who is in between grade levels in more subjects than one.
But the questionnaire didn't end there-- it continued beyond the usual scope and sequence for each grade level with worksheets to assess Student's Knowledge, Parent Knowledge, and a Student School Questionnaire. The time management tools are superb, showing the teacher how using Time Blocks can easily create a Month by Month breakdown and Weekly Time Block (schedule). There are also worksheets (templates) for : Focus Goals, Goal Overview by Subject, and Monthly Goal Planning.
What a useful tool this is for those who are organizationally challenged. It's a top notch tool that no homeschooler should be without.
