Picking a homeschooling planner for me is like picking a car. I spend SO MUCH time researching and looking. I am an organizer by nature and know that the more organized I am - the more we get done. I homeschool 6 kids and organization is a MUST.

With that said....This planner has its strengths and weaknesses.

The planner has a thicker vinyl type cover on it and is slightly larger. I find it to be sturdier and easier to access the inner pages than other planners I have had.

She includes a users guide in the first few pages. Basically she explains how to come up with a planning system in prioritizing and implementing your courses. She has a yearly planning page, monthly planning page, and a weekly planning page. She shows you how to include breaks, Monday morning tutorials and Friday afternoon reviews.

I did like how she showed different ways to fill in the blank pages in the weekly lesson pages. I am actually filling this planner out differently than I have other planners. Meaning that I plan by the week more than the individual day. I do like the blank pages (no dates or subjects). It's good for me b/c it gives me more flexibility. And I know it is good for the company b/c they don't have to keep printing planners for each new year.

I would like to have more subject areas. I teach more than 6 subjects to my kids and there really is no way to fit all of them easily on these pages. So I am having to get creative. I think narrowing the columns or taking out the notes, supplies and appointment columns would be a good idea. Why couldn't that be on the previous page with the 2 day spread that I describe below?

I bought this planner because of the good reviews, but I am a little disappointed with it. I should have read a previous post that you are stuck writing EVERYTHING out - in other words, it's basically a blank calendar, you have to pen the Month/Year and all the days. I think it could have been priced a bit cheaper for that reason. I had been using "The Well Planned Day" for three years, but felt like a change. That's a decent planner to also consider because (for the same price) you can have a planner that is basically the same concept without getting stuck with doing all the extra footwork. :)

I home school three children and teach many subjects, more than six. I also have a daily planner that I use to track meals, paperwork, schedules for my day etc.
If I didn't already have a planner where I track a lot of my other parts of my life, this would have been a great home school planner. I simply found that I could not move from my current way of doing it to this way of tracking everything. In addition to that, I needed more space for subjects.

However, if I were just starting out in home school I would use and love this planner. I really looked long and hard at it and really thought it looked good and would be perfect for what I wanted. There are so many good points about it.

One of the things I liked about this planner is that you can use it in several different ways. And the author encourages that by not dating the pages, not labeling the lines, and even demonstrating several ways you can use this book. You can write it out with subjects on top of the page, subjects down the side of the page, etc.

I tend to write out my daily lessons plans, I am thinking I'd like to move towards more of a weekly goal method. With that in mind I may pull this planner out and try to use it again. If I do I will update this review.

Enjoy.

I have only two children, so the space is perfect for us. I love that I can customize it. There is actually more to it than I need, but I still like it better than other planners. I don't like using my school planner with the meal planner in it like some planners offer; I have a planner for meals in my kitchen where I use it. This planner is focused on school which I like. I began using it in the middle of the year; so, again, the customizing ability is fabulous. Like stated in another review, if we skip some weeks, I don't have any waste in my planner. The pages are flexible. I like the introduction very much. It is extremely valuable to have the Monday morning meetings and our Friday follow ups. This keeps all of us accountable and consistent. I appreciate the scripture and quotes and review them frequently reminding myself of what is truly important- for us, it's glorifying God. I tend to be a task master, so I enjoy the reminders like enjoying the simple days. I like the cover and the pockets as well as the printing on the pockets. I added tabs to the front section. I would love it if Debra Bell would add tabs to the intro., the yearly calendar, and the monthly calendar sections. In fact, one tab for each green subject area in the table of contents would be fabulous. I hate flipping pages to find the section I am searching for. I refer to the yearly calendar, monthly calendar, goals, and daily plans frequently. Therefore, tabs would be great.
