YA-Most kids no longer put baseball cards in their bicycle spokes to make their bikes sound like motorcycles. Today, they protect them in plastic sleeves, catalog them, and hope their prices rise enough in the next 10 years to pay for college. Collecting isn't just for children anymore; it's become a big-time business, attracting as many lawyers as little leaguers. Stewart's book may not make enthusiasts rich, but it arms readers, whether beginners or advanced buyers, with the information they need to understand the unstable, complex market and to make intelligent, informed decisions. After reading chapters on assessing supply and demand, working with dealers, and developing buying strategies, enlightened collectors will be able to negotiate this expensive house of cards-baseball, that is.
