"a monster ! 168 CD !!! A Jazz Lunch For Your Ears, disent-ils en sous-titre, avant de nous souhaiter Bon appétit. Et il en faudra pour avaler le premier demi-siècle de l'histoire du jazz (tout est désormais libre de droits)". Soit 3 179 plages, enregistrées entre 1895 et 1955, des ragtimes de Scott Joplin au bop de Charlie Parker, Tristano, et compagnie. Tous les plus grands sont là - de Scott Joplin et Louis Amstrong à BB King et Ray Charles, de Duke Ellington et Benny Goodman à Billy Holiday ainsi que les plus modernes à leurs débuts (Mingus , Rollins, Davis, etc) - ainsi que des douzaines d'autres artistes, moins connus, mais qui ont influencés cette musiquepar leur talent et leur créativité. Fantastic collection, May 6, 2010

The music collection is really encompassing, although don't expect to get every piece of music from every artist listed. The great thing about this collection is that it gives you so many artists that you get to see the evolution of jazz from a ragtime era to bop, and even a little bit of cool jazz. Do expect the recordings to be somewhat rough, but there is nothing the producers of this product could do to make that better; the recordings reflect the times they were made, and that is awesome in itself.
