Brilliant book! One to keep as the perfect reference guide.
Great photos and illustrations, you can really match your own work to the samples shown. Easy to read, almost like having a friend in the room with you.
I have been a knitter for many years and have still learnt new things from this book. I found the mini samplers a great way to practise a new technique. The step by step guides are very easy to follow.
The Troubleshooting and the Design and Adapting Patterns sections are brilliant, useful to even the most experienced knitter.
I would have no hesitation in gifting this book to a 'Knitty' friend.

I've been knitting for years, but I don't tend to do complicated patterns. I wanted a reference that would assist me in learning new techniques and stitches. I have found, now that I'm trying new patterns, that I don't know all the abbreviations. After trying to use this book, I ended up returning it. It is filled with information regarding garment making, which is not what I'm focusing on (I mainly knit scarves and hats). The main reason I returned it is that I didn't like the way it was organized. I needed a quick reference for detailed instructions on how to do an abbreviation and I found this hard to navigate in. The index wasn't detailed enough for me to find what I needed, so I found myself browsing though all the sections until I found what I needed. I ended up with "Knitbook: The Basics and Beyond". It's spiral bound, which I LOVE, and I like the simple way it's laid out. All the stitch techniques are in the same place so they're easy to find. But if you mainly make garments, you may like the Ultimate Knitting Bible. It just didn't turn out to be what I was looking for.

This book should be on every knitter's bookshelf. The illustrations are excellent and there are enough that a new technique can be learned in an easy step by step manner. The information contained in the book covers every phase of knitting, not just the functional areas. The instructions for left-handers is excellent as well. If you're looking for the ultimate reference, this is the book for you.

The illustrations in the book is precise and clear. For a newbie like me in knitting, this book teaches you the techniques in detail without skipping certain steps. It's definitely a book to have for beginners in knitting.

This book is fantastic! I have read many reviews on different knitting instruction books and then ordered several books from the library to look at them all before making a purchase. I felt this was the best. I learned so much about sewing better seams, how to lenghthen and shorten clothing, diferent ways to increase and decrease, and so much more. I did agree with one review that stated how the index is not very clear and you find yourself searching for things. Once I find what I am looking for I mark it with a sticky-tab. I would be lost without this book.

I have several knitting books but this one is one of my best. I have knitted for many years and it a very good resource book. I love it!

Great instructions on all types of knitting techniques and stitches. Perfect reference for all level of knittings and includes crocheting techniques as well.

This book has rapidly become my bible and go to source for all my knitting questions, even those answered by expert knitters whose explanations I sometimes find confusing. This book lays out techniques and tips in a clear, well written style and seems to be very comprehensive in its scope.

This book covers the basics and much more. It provides helpful information for knitters of all levels. The sidebars are especially helpful: They highlight special information, such as how to calculate the tail length for the long-tail caste on, instead of burying it in a paragraph somewhere. This is my favorite comphrehensive guide, and I have them all.
