Looking for something that's out of the ordinary, fun, and an effective learning tool? If so, this is the book for you.

We own the Ultimate Lap Book Handbook, and have used it over and over and over for years. It provides hands-on and creative ways of making learning not only fun, but presenting it in a way that makes children of all ages (and grown-ups) want to review the info for years to come.

The big idea behind the Ultimate Lap Book Handbook is how to take simple file folders, and glue in information written on cleverly folded bits of paper. I put off the purchase for a while, thinking that I didn't need to spend money on a book that told me how to fold paper.

I ended up getting the book after a year. It's well worth getting. After all, if you're teaching children, what is the point of teaching them if they forget everything you taught them? Lap books are inexpensive and enjoyable. You can tailor them to whatever it is that's being learned, make the books bigger or smaller, simple or very involved, and can be tailored for grades K-12.

If you teach children of any age, you'll be glad you got this book.

What is a Lapbook? Simply put: a file folder with a few new folds (from the back cover of this book).
I am really new to lapbooking, the concept sounds wonderful. i even bought lapbooking kits hoping it would make it easier for me. i love scrapbooking, so I know this would be fun. But try as I might, the actual process of doing a lapbook has evaded me. It has been so much that way, that i actually avoided looking at this lapbooking book for review as well! But....when i opened it, I found a pleasant surprise.

This book starts at the beginning explaining the lapbooking process, by explaining why invest the time into lapbooking and what good things it can do for your children. Next , it details the different types of lapbooks, different styles and shapes.
Next it talks about adhesives, add-ins, paper folding and all the nitty-gritty stuff, like how to work it into whatever curriculum you are using, last of all, the book is filled with detailed directions of several different types of books and how to make them, including subject/topic related lapbooks. At the end, they say...if you still cannot figure out this lapbooking thing, or have questions, contact the authors!!!

i am not sure why I avoided lapbooking for so long! This book makes me want to start tomorrow with lapbooks!!! i am really excited to have this valuable resource to guide me through the process. This is one of the best explanations I have read on the process of using lapbooks in your school, no matter what curriculum you use.

This book can be used on many levels - making really cool lapbooks and other little books, or just using the Fold-its for notetaking. The instructions are clear and you can use your own creativity. My 4 children, ages 7-14, enjoyed making lapbooks and Fold-its and expressed that it helped them understand the information they were reading. They also like to share the books with other people. A good purchase!
