Best of the Low Carb Books,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ultimate Low-Carb Diet Cookbook: Over 200 Fabulous Recipes to Add Variety and Great Taste to Your Low-Carbohydrate Lifestyle (Paperback)
I own 10 low carb cookbooks (Atkins,Heller, Schwarzbein, Donna Johnson,Fran McCullough, Lauri Randolph, Gassenheimer,Doyen, Donna Rodnitzky)and this one is the best! The recipes are tasty and very well written and formatted. Some of the other books contain a lot of gourmet-ish recipes I would not normally make, others have recipes that are too boring and tasteless. The Ultimate Low Carb Diet Book gets it just right. Main Course sections include Rise and Shine (breakfast), Hot and Spicy, On the Grill, Exotic Flavors, In the Main, Strictly vegetarian. These are recipes I would chose to make even if I wasn't on a low carb diet. She also has about a dozen dessert recipes. I could not stay on the diet without this book!

The Power Protein Diet REVEALED!!!,

This review is from: The Ultimate Low-Carb Diet Cookbook: Over 200 Fabulous Recipes to Add Variety and Great Taste to Your Low-Carbohydrate Lifestyle (Paperback)
Finally, someone has the common sense to give those of us metabolically "unfortunate" types a GREAT book so we can make fabulous LOW carb HIGH protein diets at home.If you're like me, you're just as frustrated when you learn most of the current protein diet books only tells us to "Eat meat. Don't eat bread, pasta or rice." (Like: Duh!) Then this is cook book is for you! The recipes are easy to read, and even easy to prepare. Even if you're all thumbs in the kitchen, you'll benefit from this protein cook book as I did. My hats off to this author! :-) I mean no offense to the Eades books (authors), but there's lots of us out here that couldn't care less about "arocondic acid" or "good or bad acosnoids." (Even though I spelled them wrong.) We just want to know the foods we should eat, and those we shouldn't if we want to lose weight. This book DELIVERS! I've lost 12 pounds this month alone and I'm on my way to losing another 60 pounds to get me back to 190 lbs by August 2002. WOO-HOO! :-)

Amazing,

This cookbook is simply amazing. When it arrived, I dog-earred 80% of the pages immediately and have been working my way through each of them ever since. There isn't one recipe I haven't loved and I'm eating better, not to mention losing weight, as never before. The recipes are easy to follow and for someone who never cooked, this has been a revelation. I enjoy cooking now; the time spent doing so is rewarding and fun. Low-carb eating makes total sense and this cookbook makes it all worthwhile.

The greatest!,
This review is from: The Ultimate Low-Carb Diet Cookbook: Over 200 Fabulous Recipes to Add Variety and Great Taste to Your Low-Carbohydrate Lifestyle (Paperback)
I own many low carb cookbooks (Fran Mccullogh, Linda Gassenheimer, Atkins cookbooks, etc,) and honestly none of them compare to this book. this is just the best. With useful information, DELICIOUS and un-complicated recipies, that fit perfectly when doing Atkins or another low carb method to lose weight or as a new adopted lifestyle.Highly recommended, I just LOVE this book.

A great book, through and through. Ever since I got my copy, I can't stop cooking the delicious recipes. Buy two copies for yourself - one could be for you, one could be for your significant other! Another plus: very witty writing, a rarity with cookbooks. Highly recommended!

The Perfect Partner for your Low-Carb Diet,

My doctor sais I needed to be healthier while on the Atkins Diet because I was eating too many fatty foods like bacon and eggs. A friend suggested this book to me, and it has opened up a new world of healthy, low-carb possibilities. And the best thing is that they all taste great too -- especially the desserts! I also bought one of the author's other cookbooks called The Lowfat Grill. It's also great for low-carb dieters who want to watch fat intake too.

unrealistic,

I ordered this cookbook based on the reviews, and ordered another called "Fabulous Lo-Carb Cuisine". I paged through both and immediately put Ultimate Low-Carb Diet Cookbook back in the box to ship back for a refund. There were WAY too many recipes that I wouldn't even consider preparing...not because they didn't sound good...but that they weren't quick and easy. Anything that involves trips to the "speciality" grocery store and a ton of ingredients and prep work is a turn off for me.I instead kept the tiny book of awesome recipes that were quick, easy and realistic for my lifestyle. (Not to mention yummy) This one was way too "out there" for me and unrealistic for daily use.

I just made the Pumpkin and Walnut Bread (used pecans though) and it is great. I felt like I was cheating on my diet. I recommend this book highly, especially if you are tired of just sugar-free jello desserts.

The Ultimate Low-Carb Diet Cookbook is just about the best vegetable and grilling cookbook I have (and I have many because I'm old and love to cook). It doesn't really meet Weight Watchers criteria (uses oil and sometimes butter), but is definitely low cal and knows how to bring out flavor and variety in my favorite, healthy veggies which are high in anti-oxidants (I worked as a cancer RN in a hospital for many years). Special favorites of mine are the string bean and Brussels sprouts recipes. People who dislike these vegetables will love them for the first time. There are great grilled chicken recipes as well. Don't miss checking this one out!

After an almost 3-year lapse in my low-carb dieting, I have decided I can no longer afford to "diet." So, I'm low-carbing it again, but this time, with the intention that it will be a permanent lifestyle change, and not just a temporary means to lose weight. When I moved back to the U.S., I did so without my books. So, I was very happy to find this cookbook used through Amazon.com. (And, I received it the next day!!!). It was one of my favorites, and I couldn't wait to make many of my favorite recipes again, like "Sesame-Coated Salmon with Wasabi Sauce." I do not find the recipes difficult, and most do not require "exotic" ingredients. This is the book I have used a lot when I had company over, and wanted to make something "special."
