Divine!, February 23, 2009
This review is from: Ultimate Opera Queen (Audio CD)
This particular Una Voce Poco Fa sung by Roberta Peters is sublime.
It is the ultimate example of why she was famous for this role.
This is my favorite compilation album of all time.
Wonderful choices, wonderful examples.
Milles mercis!

Wow! What a collection, October 21, 2004
This review is from: Ultimate Opera Queen (Audio CD)
If you want a good beginning to mainstream Romantic (1800s) opera, this is a great choice. Probably my favorite soprano of her type (med-heavy and richer sounding), all of Leontyne Price's tracks, in which she's a major feature of this disc, are just amazing, especially the Vissi, d'Arte and the Pace, Pace mio Dio. Margaret Price is another of the voice type whose exquisitely clean and dramatically excellent Don Giovanni aria is wonderful. Anna Moffo was known for her Violetta of La Traviata, and her two show-stoppers are on this disc. I'm not wild about the rest, but Ms. Cabelle's Casta Diva is quite clean and good too. If you are a beginner or a conoisseur of the opera divas of yesteryear (or any year) GET THIS DISC, you won't be sorry!

Good, but they forgot one little thing... CALLAS!, March 9, 2008
This review is from: Ultimate Opera Queen (Audio CD)
The CD is good, overall, but there is an unforgivable omission here... there is not even one aria sung by Callas. Callas is the ultimate diva for us opera queens, so I can't really understand why she isn't here.
Buy it, but you've been warned.
