Raising kids to become responsible adults is the goal of every good parent, and being financially responsible is a huge part of that. It's hard enough alone, but having a great book for outside ideas is priceless. No one way works for all families, but there is very sound advice in this book that will help you teach your kids about money. One example in this book is not using money as a tool for enforcement of behavior when the financial consequence isn't connected to real life. This is a solid tip that a parent can easily overlook when trying to motivate their kids.

As a parent of a young adult, I wish I had read this when my child was a toddler, as it would have had a tremendous impact on my child's spending habits and views toward money. I have found that it isn't too late to apply the learnings in the book, as I have utilized many of the strategies that were presented, and have seen some changes in the purchasing practices of my young adult, as well as an emphasis on increasing her savings accounts.

What I really liked about this book was the easy readibility within the context of the author's family. Not only did I feel as though I knew the various individuals within her family, but it was so easy to relate to the situations that she used - and the strategies that she recommends are financially sound and extremely simple to remember and use. I highly recommend this for every parent!

I was very impressed with this book particularly with the level of specific detail and practical financial concepts. It was well organized with short, but concise chapters. When a refresher is needed as any financial issue surfaces in a parent's life this book should serve as an excellent reference making it very easy for the reader to go back and revisit a particular chapter/topic in a matter of minutes. The real life examples from the author's family really illustrated the concepts well.

I particularly enjoyed the lessons of "the early repo", having the kids help with meal prep and planning, the final part one chapter on "getting started", and parental matching for savings. This book is a much needed remedy in today's society where Americans are saving less than ever before, and as a result we all need to foster better financial habits in our children and ourselves. Money Smart Kids is now my preferred baby gift for friends and family that are new or expecting parents.

Clear and practical. This book really helps get kids and parents on the same page regarding money. It's a great "how to" in which everyone will learn to better appreciate the value of earning and managing money.
