5.0 out of 5 stars Glam is good
This is for the bonehead that wrote about glam being s**t. How old are you, 10 years old? I grew up listing to this and I think that it's a whole hell of a lot better than some of the crap they are playing now, music was music then, not just crap, like they play now.

3.0 out of 5 stars An OK Collection
"Ultimate PBF" is a decent collection of demos and studio tracks from the immortal glam band. Unfortunately, all these tracks have been released on previous albums so there's nothing new for the hardcore fans. Also, this cd only has 13 tracks. The last 2 tracks listed "Set the Night on Fire" & "Rock & Roll Outlaws" are not on the...

If you can't understand why people like this, then maybe you need to go and clean out your ears and grow up more, because you are not a true metal head, true metal heads like me, can appreciate good music. I grew up with listing to venom, voivod, black flag, wrathchild, poisen and Ozzy, and many more artist than you can even ever imagine and I am in my late 30's and I still crank up PBF and other hair metal bands in my car.

"Ultimate PBF" is a decent collection of demos and studio tracks from the immortal glam band. Unfortunately, all these tracks have been released on previous albums so there's nothing new for the hardcore fans. Also, this cd only has 13 tracks. The last 2 tracks listed "Set the Night on Fire" & "Rock & Roll Outlaws" are not on the disc in any form. Somebody sure messed up.
To people new to the band, I'd recommend their debut album "Leather Boyz With Electric Toyz" over this. It's a lot more consistant and still ranks as my favorite. Not that "Ultimate PBF" doesn't have it's strong points. It's just that the muddy sounding demos seem out of place next to their slick studio work. I realize this is just an attempt by Deadline Records to make a buck off the PBF name(if that's even possible), but "Ultimate PBF" isn't bad. If they had offered up something a little different, my review would have been a bit more positive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the best place to start, but a good collection for fans..., November 21, 2008
The title "Ultimate Pretty Boy Floyd" makes it sound like a best-of, but it's not really. It's demos and early recordings of songs from other albums.

All in all, it's pretty damn good. Some of the sound/mastering is not the best, but they're demos. Plus, PBF really only recorded one album for a major label, and the rest has been DIY, so the grittier, not-polished sound is too be expected.

If you are new to PBF, and looking for a hits package, I wouldn't start with this...start with their first proper album: "Leather Boyz with Electric Toys" and the go from there. Because this is a band that deserves your attention, in my opinion.

So this band has like 4 greatest hits, and 4 albums and one album should be considered a greatest hits, so this bad basically has more greatest hits then albums!!! MAKE MORE ALBUMS!!! THATS WHAT WE WANT!!!!! I am giving it 3 stars, due to the amazing music. Now Greatest hits aren't bad, and if your looking for one for this band, either get THE VAULT, or DIRTY GLAM, the Vault is a tad better song wise, but the sound quality can be bad at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick Question, January 14, 2005
Who is the greatest band you've ever heard?

A. Pretty Boy Floyd
B. Zebra
C. Grim Reaper
D. All of the Above

That is a total trick questions because I would never make you choose between those titans of metal. Ultimate PBY(that's the first letters of the words in Pretty Boy Floyd) is an answer to the question most hard core metal fans have had for the last 10 years. "Where can I get the best songs by PYT melted down to just one collection?". That question and ,"Why is my hair so freaking frizzy today?" dominated the metal landscape for years. PHT is so tight with their musicianship that you wonder how they've only been playing for 14 years. Their hooks are the best in the business and they completely look like ugly women. Looking like glammed up ugly chicks normally is not a recipe for success,(see Star Jones) but PCB pulls it off with a pinache not seen since Joel Gray in "Silver Spoons". If you are a true metal head and don't have this disc, turn in your card and rent Steel Magnolias because you're a total woman.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complete Rip Off, January 23, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ultimate (Audio CD)
I bought this CD for 5 dollars used and seriously regretted it ten minutes later. I could have bought 2 Happy Meals or a frozen piece of meat, but what I got was a horrid, rancid comilation of Pretty Boy S**T! This doesn't even deserve 2 stars but I'm nice. There is one decent song on this album, Saturday Night in the USA, which to some may be worth $18.99 but it was definately not worth my five bucks. The "untouched" part of these "UNTOUCHED STUDIO DEMOS!" really shows. On many songs you cannot hear the vocals, the drums sound like plague-ridden duck being beaten with a pretty boy stick. Leather Boyz is a great song, but this CD destorys it. ALSO! I could sue the label for displaying 15 tracks on the cover when there are actually only 13. They left off 2 songs without even changing the art! In my opinion, Pretty Boy Floyd rules, but dont buy this CD. Get 2 happy meals instead.
