5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This book is great. I personally knew Mr Bill cheek before he passed on. This book has more info than the average person would use. You must be hardcore to do the mods and have very good eyes. I would make it a point to get his scanner modification hand books 1 and 2 and also buy cheek 3. With theese books you are armed with alot of knowledge...

4.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable learning tool!, March 20, 2011
This review is from: The Ultimate Scanner (Paperback)
These series of books give you all the information you need and more to take control of your Pre-mid-90's scanners when units were made to be worked on and modified. Sure you can buy a whiz bang does everything radio which programs itself, but you learn nothing about radio itself, and what are the possibilities for experimentation. If you want to learn about what makes a scanner tick, and trick it out to your specifications, these are the books for you.

Recapture some of the fun of the do-it-yourself part of the hobby!
Cheers!
