5.0 out of 5 stars Sex is a Wonderful Thing & This Book is Wonderful
This book has many helpful tips to better mental, emotional, and (mainly) physical intimacy with your partner. It explains some things (ok many) I never knew and is good at explaining these things with simple explanations and/or pictures. This book is like health class on steriods: the confessionals, anatomical diagrams, sex positions, and aim to inform so to foster...

1.0 out of 5 stars A little too simple, a book for sex virgins maybe??, March 2, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
We were looking forward to receiving this book. We spent a while browsing the selection available - checking out the reviews of others to try and get an accurate picture. We are a newly married couple in our mid twenties and hoped to get a book we could read through together in bed and that may give us some new ideas. We are neither prudes or perverts but enjoy sex and are open about discussing it.

The book looks nice, its a fair size and presented well. It has non explicit photos and no brash terms. However we really just didnt find anything of worth information wise between the covers. It doesnt go into the slightest of depth about any subject. For example the sections on felatio and cunnilingus are one page each with perhaps two small blocks of text that tell you what the acts are and literally tell you the very basic, patronising instructions. E.g. "To perform felatio you should lick and suck your partners ******".

There are hardly any positions included and those that are featured do not give any detailed descriptions and you must rely on one photo of the "finished article" to work out how its done.

Example again, it will give you the title of the position and then just say " Two birds in flight: So called because this is what the position is said to look like"

It really doesnt give you any ideas, or tell you anything you really know, unless maybe you are totally new to sex.

The first night we got this book we ended up flicking through it quickly to see what was in it, but really had no desire or need to read it again after that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex is a Wonderful Thing & This Book is Wonderful, May 16, 2003

This book has many helpful tips to better mental, emotional, and (mainly) physical intimacy with your partner. It explains some things (ok many) I never knew and is good at explaining these things with simple explanations and/or pictures. This book is like health class on steriods: the confessionals, anatomical diagrams, sex positions, and aim to inform so to foster more healthy relationships. Oh yeah, this book is also a strong promoter of great sex. Don't just look at pictures, you should also read because the content is remarkable and capable of improving your relationship with your partner and increase your success in the sack. If faint-hearted, remember life is about self-preservation and procreation: this book gives a tasteful account of improving both. That is, your partner will never take your life if you provide the intimacy explained in this book and you will have increased chances of procreation. Wonderful book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sex is Good. Ultimate Sex is better!, April 2, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
Ultimate Sex by Anne Hooper is a wonderful book. Its photos are as intriguing, erotically exciting and informative as the crisp text. While reading and looking through the book I found myself to be both curiously adventurous and also titillated by this provocative tome. And, okay, a little embarrassed at
first. But I didn't let that stop me. Then a bonus, my boyfriend was immediately interested in exploration just from the cover itself. The book was already fun for me, then even more fun as a couple going through it together and trying things out, really good. There are steps that are easy to follow, exciting to try. Though "educational," there was nothing clinical about this straightforward book. It's nice to give one's imagination a bit of a boost. It was enjoyable from beginning to end. I'm
thinking it'll be a nice reference book. I do plan to re-visit, frequently. There were a few things I've yet to discover. A few things that reintroduced me to my own coyness, something that my sophisticated mask was ashamed to admit still existed.

I also had a little secret weapon that got me through my shyness and my embarrassment at being embarrassed. I was publicly reading "Working on Your Relationship Doesn't Work" by Ariel and Shya Kane while privately reading Anne Hooper's "Ultimate Sex" (the photos were a little vivid for my commute on the train).
Through humor and examples from their lives and the lives of others, the Kanes gently guided me to be kind to myself, see and appreciate my relationship with me, relax with my partner and get even comfortable with intimacy. With their wonderful insights I began to know I am doing it right. It simply got easy to laugh with myself, share with my man and enjoy "Ultimate Sex" in every way. So I highly recommend the two books together, the dynamic duo for great sex and magical relationships.

If you want to improve your sex life or learn some new tricks, this book is for you. It doesn't matter if you are a virgin or an expert, you will gain some knowledge from this book. The book not only show great pictures, but set the mood with different types of scenarios involving couples. I also liked the fact that this book touched on all types of sex. I enjoyed it and I am sure you will too. Note: This is not a porn book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice pictures but we found it needing, August 28, 2004
This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
We still enjoy the "Joy of Sex" better, although I do like the natural pictures in this book. It provides good ideas for younger persons but less likely for seasoned couples.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth Anything..., November 9, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
As with all but one of Anne Hooper's books... This one is dry, dry, dry!

The problem with Anne Hooper is that she does not ever delve into the truly philosophical aspects of modern sexual issues. She focuses on very basic facts that nearly anyone could figure out and the only real reason that she sells a great deal of books is because the pictures in her book are real and revealing.

The pictures may be revealing but that is not why I buy these books.

It is not just Anne Hooper; nearly all of our modern sex therapists that write books do it merely for financial gain and do not truly write to inform their readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Tips...Helped my marriage tremendously!, August 21, 2005
This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
This book gives you a different perspective on the way you and your beloved mate communicate intimately in the bedroom...(or any room, for that matter!) I thoroughly enjoy the new things I have learned, and recommend any couple (because everyone has intimacy difficulty from time to time) to share this book with your partner!

This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
This is a great book for beginer, but if person already in close relation, most likely, they already know 99% of material of this book by their own emagination. However, this book has good quality paper and pictures which is again helpful for new romantic couples.

I've read of number of sex books and this one, while not the best, is certainly worth looking at. The pictures are really helpful in trying out new positions and I really enjoyed the section on romantic food. ....

1.0 out of 5 stars Way to simple, October 19, 2008
This review is from: Ultimate Sex (Hardcover)
This book has absolutely no substance behind it. It's extremely simple and gives no depth to any topic. If you have the internet, or a library card for that matter, then you can find more information in less than 5 minutes. This book might help a complete virgin, who never took a sex ed class (well... maybe it'd help those that took an abstinance only class, too) but not anyone else. Don't waste your money.
